Some of us live in predominantly Black neighborhoods

and some of us live in a *culturally rich* neighborhood... [img]/forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif[/img] [img]/forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img] thats just my way of saying that I live in a mixed neighborhood...(on purpose )
I used to live in a prodominatly white neighborhood, had my son going to a wite school, where is was usually the only black in the class....but I have since learnt that that was not a good thing for him...
Too many questions but color and ting....and the child was only 6! Been there, done that, dont want to do that any more...
I have evolved... [img]/forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img] and learnt that the whites dont want you in their neighborhood, even though they may *pretend* that they do....
something, will come out to show you waht they really think...or some comment towards your self or your children will come out to show you whats truly in the heart...
When we move in, most of them start watching to see whether or not , you trying to bring down the neighborhood, and if they get it in their heads that such is the case....them start packing dem barrel....
Nope, I have had to deal with the identity crisis myself...
I came here at the age of 18 years, almost 19, fresh outta high school and ready to conquer the world....

Niggers, Coons, Blackie, Tar Baby, Baboons, Colored, Porch Monkey!!! These are just some of the names that the whites have called blacks. Virginia, was where my grandmother and mom were born. My grandmother was only allowed to attend school up to the 6th grade.She was pulled out and made to work by some distant family members who was so called taking care of her, she never knew her mom and dad.

Well the only way she saw that she could escape was to get married at an early age. She had 9 children, gave birth to all 9 at home by a mid wife. No hospital, no epedural. She was the backbone of our family, in her time there was nothing to hear of a black man getting lynched and found dangling up in a tree. If that wasn't bad enough, most were castrated swinging naked for their loved ones to see.

She would leave her own family, the older ones taking care of the little ones in the wee hours of the morning to care for a white family"s household. She scrubbed floors on her hands and knees, ironed clothes, sheets, no with the fancy irons we have today but the ones they had to heat on a wood stove. She sweated and toiled so hard for her family she knew that education was the key for her kids. She never wanted them to have to go what she was going through.


All of her children grew up with education values, they attended all black schools and had the best black teachers you could imagine. Along the way her kids were able to teach my grandmother as well. Her kids all came home with nothing less than a B on their report cards.

I knew early on that blacks weren't treated as well as whites. My mom was a Draftsman, she had gone and studied in school after school most often attending night courses. She had so many awards for being the top of her class, but in the work force I would hear of her complaining that she wasn't getting paid as much as the white men in the same field of work. My mom lived in the days of Dr. King, she lived in the world where there were Signs posted everywhere No Niggers Allowed, Colored Seatings, Whites Only water fountains, white Only bathrooms and so much more. She also knew the KKK, and cross burnings on blacks people yards also of the beating and killings and lynchings of people of color just because they were black.


Well I was raised in Virginia as well, I knew what black meant very early on actually my from Germany married my uncle who was in the service so she stayed with my mom dad and myself when I was a baby. She told me this story, when she was taking me for a walk in the stroller a white man started following her asking her who was that colored gal she was carrying? When she told him that I was hers he called her a Nigg. lover. Growing up in Virginia we were taught History but nothing about Black History, black slavery was skimmed pass so fast. Oh we did read about blonde hair blue eyed romance novels.

I have been told stories, but hadn't really realised what they had gone through until every black family that had a tv tuned in to Watch the movie Roots by Alex Hailey. When I saw how the Africans were torn from their land their families, the shackles, the beatings, being thrown off the ship, some blacks just jumped from the ships because they didn't want to be slaves. The raping of the black women by these white masters, the selling of the black men like they were cattle. [img]/forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif[/img] Even though this is a movie, this is our story our ancestors. This is a history, researched and told by a black man for us black people. This is reality.

Yes, I have witnessed many things being Black. Like Tropi have stated I have been the only one standing at a perfume counter,been overlooked on purpose. A white customer comes and I have to speak up telling her that I was there first and if she has a problem helping me I would glady speak to her supervisor. Followed through the stores. I have been called a ****** on more than one ocassion. Time and time again I have been challenged on my job,their wish list and my reality list. Watching the news how Blacks are killed every day maybe they will announce it if they do no real time in telling it is involved. But how long have we been hearing about Lacy Peterson?

When the hurricane hit the news was focusing on Florida, Jamaica was shown but the same little clips over and over again. A while back my husband was working a job and this other guy was doing the same job but his boss was giving the other guy more money, when my husband found out he was told because the other guy had a family. We have been stopped by the cops just because he has dreads and is black, they always seem to give some bogus excuse why they are stopping him.
Coming from Jamaica in Chicago a white woman lead us over to the side " again looking at his dreads and asking us fifty million questions about what we did on vacation, where we visited, did we have any refer? No one else was pulled aside on that flight.

So many black people have died because they were trying to speak out for our rights. It's no time to sit around and pretend that you don't see something just in order not to offend? In this world you'll never be equal to them so stop trying. Will we ever be? When God takes over and not before. Unless you are blind, you do see and experience color and you are fooling yourself if you believe otherwise.

Tropi, we all have experienced so many things in life. There isn't time enough to write all of these things but I have enjoyed everyone that has shared their lives with us. We may all live in different places, but we press on.

Master P was arrested in his possession was a loaded gun, no tags were on his vehicle, that's how he was aprehended This lie is what the white police claimed.............


Master P was on the radio this morning talking about these lies. He was in a nice looking brand new car in the passengers seat,his brother was driving. They were minding their own business when a police car on the opposite side of the road made a U-turn and pulled the two over.

The white police officer had to give some kind of excuse so he said it was because they didn't have any license plates. " But it was a new car, and had the paper plates from the dealer. Master P told the officer he had a registered gun on his person, they white officer arrested him, the black officer Knew he was Master P but stood by and did absolutely nothing. Master P said, " The most hurtful part is my own people stood there and let this white police officer put him through changes and did nothing about it, that the sad part." He also said, " When you are Black and have money it's so much different than being white with money!"

If it had been Nicolas Cage or Robert Redford or some other white movie star they wouldn't have been hauled off to jail for nothing. Master P has never been in any trouble, he carries his gun for protection. This is just another case where the white officer sees 2 Black men riding in a nice ride and they automactically think they are gangbanger or drug hustlers. He also says that being a Black man he has been through this numerous times but this time he will take the matter to court. All because he has Black skin, I guess some think that this story is made up as well or maybe he should get over it........

As with most black people, no matter where they reside in this world, you feel a sense of not being given your just do for what black people have brought to the world.

Maybe not you as an individual, but what people of your color have done to make the world better. I feel a kinship with all people of color. The "white" people of the world have positioned themselves in such a way as to be seen as the giver of all things when it is not true.

The story of the African slave and their descendants in American is a story still to be told properly and to the liking of African-Americans. It is hotly debated to this day.

Will it ever be told right, I doubt it. Only because, so many years have passed to tell it in the right light. Once years have passed, it becomes difficult to get the facts in order to tell it right.

If you look at history in it's truest form, it is all fantasy and a few facts.
