I believe that the people that doesn't like Jamaicans is a small amount and its not a
handfull.

Most canadian believe that once the person speak
Jamaican along with the accent is consider to them that the person is a Jamaican.

What canadian don't understand is not everyone who speak with an Jamaican accent and wears rasta
belt or cap is a Jamaican.

Now people gets facts wrong. Like that female who say her father don't like Jamaican because
they commit too much crime.

You should have educate her about who we are and how easly we could be mistaking for other.

plus I now there a lot of African American live in the canadian area and they like to change there appearance to fit in.

What happen is that she is been brain wash by her daddy about Jamaican and need to educated
about who we are.

Some people just don't understand and there eyes is still blind.

Funny, I share the sentiments that Dr. Dudd does about attending "Caribbean" functions and joining these committees.

When I just moved here, I was eager to be apart of these committess.. but after attending a couple of the functions and meetings, and seeing that its just a bunch of people more showing off what they have, and just using the forum to peddle there services.. and less interested in helping the community,hearing the ridiculous remarks other Caribbean nations would use to refer to Jamaicans I decided to remove myself from these gatherings as it seem like a waste of time.

A note on the crime in Jamaica -
Maybe the govt should take a page from the Afgan leader's book. Sure the US govt wants them to destroy the opium trade, but as he says, if we destroy the trade, the nations have to help to invest in creating alternative income for the masses.
The govt is supposindly fighting the drug trade in Jamaica.. But now the dons have turned their sights on the people. Extortion and kidnappins is on the rise, with extortions becoming way more aggressive and inclusive(see the death of Maurice Azan). The money has to come from somewhere.. if no drugs, then the people.. Its as simple as that. The govt need to bargin with the intl community to help to put in place ways for the idle hands to be MEANINGFULLY employed.
