Re: A Chair for Terry...The Whole story , with photos...The End
Stan, Marilyn told me about your wonderful story and I had to read about myself. What a wonderful idea that became a reality thanks to your unselfish compassion. You are a good man, Stan. I am proud to call you a friend and you inspire me to push forward in giving back to the country that gives so much to each of us. Can you believe that one mans trash really was another mans treasure. Just think of all the items sitting in garages all around the world that could be used to change someones life.
Did I read somewhere that Terry has tingling in his toes!!!
Re: A Chair for Terry...The Whole story , with photos...The End
Hi Angie,
Miss ya girl, I've been so busy and haven't been doing anything for GFT, shame on me.
Yes, Terry says he has some tingling in his toes, but i don't know how true this is.
I will be checking this out when we are talking next.
It's been several years since his operation in Cuba and I don't beleive he's seen a doctor to often since then.Maybe some kind feeling is coming back, who knows .
But from what i do know, it's unlikely he'll walk again. But Jah does watch over him. ray:

Kat and Garrett:
They called from Terrys house and said they are having the time of their lives.
Terry's wife is going to give Kat a cooking lesson and show her how to make Akee and salt fish, because Garrett has become addicted to it.
Pirate and Oz have been taking them all over the island and they are seeing things no first timer ever gets to see.
Kat said everyone has treated them sooo well and they couldn't have imagined this trip would turn out to be so life changing for them.
I think we have another Jamaicaholic couple on our hands folks. What do you think???
Kat and Garrett provided the money for the ramp into Terry's house and she said Gail Jacksons carpenter did a great job, it looks outstanding.

I'm sorry to say that the yard party did not come off, unless it happened after Thunderhead, Ted and me drove by. We had a huge rainstorm around 3PM and it rained for quite awhile. When we went by his house, the children were in the back yard getting a bath and it was all quiet. So we didn't bother him.
Thunderhead said that he didn't mind and he could use the money or supplies he bought for his family and I tend to agree on that with my contribution.

Yes Jamaica Miss,
The weather sure put a damper on Terry’s party.
He was hoping for a big celebration of his chair and his new found freedom.
He called me and I tried to explain to him that most of the folks he met a Selinas,
had to return to their homes and couldn’t attend.
I think he was most upset about the leaving of Kat and Garrett as he became so dependent on them
and all that they had done for him.
This story has come to an end, or really, a new start of Terry’s adventures.
I worry that the chair won’t hold up too long and he’ll be back stuck in his room again.
We’ll cross that bridge when we get to it. But just incase you happen to hear of a similar type of wheel chair, let me know.
If not for Terry , then for some other person in Jamaica who is in need.
In closing this up I want to thank all of the people who helped Betty and I make this happen
for Terry.
I don’t know what we’ll be up to next, but something will come along, it always does
Thank you also for all the kind words and prayers and may Jah bless you All.

Stan, I'm sure that the high of being mobile again will stay with Terry for a long time, in spite of the party turn-out. Having his frineds leave, and the weather, put a damper on his feelings for awhile I'm sure, but it appears that this is a strong young man who will overcome his obstacles....
Bless you Stan, & Betty, Juju, Gail, Kat, Garrett, Thunderhead and all of the good friends Terry has made throughout this time, who came together to help make this dream a reality, a dream where he once again became able to get out and about, be mobile. Please keep us posted once in awhile about Terry, I know I will be sure to visit him on my next trip. Also, I hope the chair holds out for a long time, but please let us all know if something happens and parts or whatever is needed. I'd sure hate to see this young man go back to being housebound again, and one just never knows where they may find a chair or scooter for someone who, like Terry, really needs one, but has no means....
