Shopppers make last-minute purchases at a supermarket in preparation for the arrival of Tropical Storm Dennis, Wednesday, July 6, 2005, in Kingston, Jamaica. Some rural Jamaicans were cut off by floodwaters hours before the storm was to pass, and authorities planned to fly over the affected southeast area in a helicopter to search for stranded islanders.

I haven't heard anything about the airport. I'm trying to get in touch w/my friend who is a travel agent to get some info.

I sent an email to power 106 a few minutes ago and they sent allready an answer: Yes, until further notice

Talked to a friend in Negril a few minutes ago. She says things are going fine - they have gotten a bit of rain, and it's Hot, Hot, Hot - but so far no one's worried much about Dennis. I got through just fine on her Digicel phone.

Air Jamaica has cancelled all its flight and have moved their planes from Jamaica to safety

LAst night I heard that both airports were closed until at least Tuesday...not sure how solid that info is though

This just in from a friend of mine in St.Catherine via email.

We are taking no chances. Eventhough this hurricane should not be as WICKED as IVAN we are PREPARED!!
Supermarket shelves were empty or almost empty where bread, batteries, tin food and other non persihables are normally stocked.
We have been having rain since about 5 this morning.
Thankfully we still have power and cable :-).
No water by me ( only because is 'COUNTRY' )but most people still have water.
Evacuation has taken place in low lying and flood prone areas.
Our birds were out this morning which I presume is a sign that the storm won't hit us badly.
Will update later if we don't lose power.

Most of the major airlines were cancelling their flights to an dfrom Jamaica today
I hear this on power 106 last night.
