Every year my son's school sends letters home on how to avoid the kids from getting lice. Freaks me out because I had it in grade 2 and being a neat freak, I was so miserable that my life felt out of control. Lice is not a good thing.Comment

it looks like dandruff but dont come off the hair when you pull it? They say black people dont get lice cuz the grease we use is this true?Comment

The misconception is that they result from a lack of hygene. In reality, if you sit in a chair with a headrest that had been used by someone before you with lice then there is a possibility that you can get them despite constant bathing and shampooing. I have heard of people getting lice from movie theater seats when they lean their head back on the headrest or from rental car seats while doing the same thing.Originally posted by Jah_Mamma:

Now I know that the cleaner the hair is the more chances you can get lice because yes greasy hair doesn't allow them to latch on as easily but you can't still get lice. When I had it, it made me feel I was dirty because I don't think people were too educated on it and kids can be cruel. my daughter called me saying that some kid at the club had lice. not sure if my kids have any lice, can i use a pressing comb to burn out the lice?Comment
