I always threaten people w/ the "gun show". Pull up my sleeves, flash the guns (aka biceps), and then "shoot them" back and forth while making machine gun sounds. Wouldn't want that showin up on national tv.

Nex they move onto Reds interview. They show him sitting on the couch in our living room. Over his shoulder is the scrawniest, most awful, near death plant that I am desperatley trying to nurse back to health. I wonder why they didn't pull one of the ferns from another room from the house, they are all so lush and green. [img]/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif[/img] :Oh, well, this isn't a decorating show so forget about the plant for a minute.

Red says lots of wonderful things about me. [img]/forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif[/img] He says that I am smart, progressive, sexy, curvy, and hot. [img]/forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif[/img] But he says the way I dress doesn't reflect any of that. He says he is tired of picking out my clothes for me and doing most of the clothes shopping for both of us. It is true, Red picks out almost all of my work stuff. [img]/forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif[/img] He wishes I would stop dressing like a crazy homeless woman, and start dressing age/work appropriate. Then he looks right into the camera and says, in a much thicker accent:

Boundie, I love you, I think you are sexy and smart. I love your body and I wish you didn't hide it under clothes that are 5 sizes to big for you.... and please in the future... Stay the h-e-l-l outta my closet! [img]/forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif[/img]

This give everyone a good laugh and it prompts Stacey to ask me "How does it make you feel to hear your husband so those things about you?" I really can't remember how I answered, but I think it was the only question I took seriously all night long. I am hoping Red can come in and tell a little bit more about this period in the eveing. It is all a blur to me.

Next they move onto my best friends interview. Now, I knew this would be a riot to watch. My best friend is by far the funniest person I have ever known in my entire life. In fact, Red told me that when he was giving names and contact numbers for people the crew could interview, he made them promise to interview my best friend. He described her as a little spitfire, to say the least. Personally, I don't think there words in the english lanugage to describe how funny she is. I was excited and also dreading to see her interview.

Just before the interview with her was played, she reached over and touched me on the shoulder. She said, please don't be disappointed, I completely choked. [img]/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif[/img] I knew there was no way that was true. Even if she had choked, it would still be hilarous. She is funny even when she thinks she isn't.

The taped interview begins to play, and there is my best friend, looking gorgeous as always. They open the interview with her saying:

Boundie sense of style is very shabby-chic...dramatic pause... minus the chic.

That was all it took, I was laughing again and so was most of the room. The rest of her interview was more and more one liners and "zingers" as her husband calls them. She also restated many of the thing Red had said about my personality and how my clothes don't match my personality. She wondered if tge crew could supply me with a clown suit as that seemed to fit my personality best.

Afterwards my best friend told me that while the crew was there filming her interview she asked them if they had any secret footage of me doing anything dorky? The crew was like what do you mean? She explained to them that I will sometimes dance in the middle of the street, or sing at the top of my lungs... they crew cut her off right there and replied, "Oh yeah, we have tons of that stuff."

I wish I could remember more from this portion on the night. [img]/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif[/img] But by this time, about 4 hours had passed and all the anxiety and nervousness had exhausted me. I still had adrenaline pumping through my veins and was shaking and sweating like I don't know what, but mentally I was exhausted. Plus, once the secret footage was finished I wasn't so scared anymore. The worst part was over for me. *whew* I know my friends and family love me and wouldn't say/do anything to hurt me.

I found out it was only 6 minutes of footage total that was showed to me, 6 minutes per nominee. I swear those 6 minutes of taped footage were the longest of my life!

After they wrapped up my best friends interview, they said they were going to take another 5 minute break and get all of the nominees final thoughts before announcing the winner.

We're sorry, ma'am, but if you don't remove that ill-fitting jacket, the camera will break. Several women in Washington became unwitting recipients of a makeover yesterday, courtesy of the TLC reality show "What Not to Wear."

Host Clinton Kelly told The Post yesterday that he and co-host Stacy London were in town to find the "worst-dressed woman on the rise" and "worst-dressed woman in government." Participants were nominated by a friend or family member, secretly filmed, given a makeover, then judged at Charlie Palmer's Steakhouse on Capitol Hill.

"What Not to Wear" hosts Stacy London and Clinton Kelly try to make over Washington. (Tlc)
So how does Washington stack up fashion-wise with the rest of the country? According to Kelly, the city isn't the worst he's seen, but "just like everywhere, people could use help."

However, this fashion expert isn't letting us off so easily: He said Washington is "the pleated khakis capital of the world."

And ladies, you're not off the hook, either: "There's a tendency in D.C. for women to look a little frumpy." He added, "I'm seeing women wear opaque hose and it's 90 degrees outside! Let it breathe down there, ladies!"

Winners in the show -- he won't reveal who they are -- each received $5,000. Kelly said the women can spend the cash on whatever they want but, "hopefully it will go toward some better clothes." The show will air in September.

The 5 minute break is up and we are all sitting in our seats again. The director calls out action and Stacey and Clinton turn it on for the cameras.

We are all asked to give final statements. April goes first. She says that she knows she dresses bad and knows that she needs help. She again states that money is tight... I am thinking, not as tight as your clothes but figure after having seen my own footage, I had no room to talk about someone elses style... and that she would love a change.

JoRae goes second and she says that she knows she is stuck in a time warp but really doesn't care. She doesn't care what people think of her and isn't concerned with her appearence. She also states that money is of concern and maybe if she had more she would dress better...what a contradiction!!...

Then it is my turn. Stacey and Clinton ask me for my final thoughts. I tell them I am going to actively pursue finding new friends, and I am going to place a sheet on the couch for BigRed. Not a nice sheet either an old thing, worn out, stinky one from my neighbors dog crate. I let Red know that he can expect to be sleeping there until I have worn and modeled each one of the outfits, from my closet, for him at least once. [img]/forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]

Then I say that it is hard to see yourself on TV dressed like a homeless person and that if it is truly important to Red then it must be something that I should take seriously as well. I say I would welcome the opportunity for some fashion advice and the opportunity to change the way I look and feel about myself.

After I gave my final comments Stacey and Clinton said they had some serious talking to do and would be back soon to announce the winner.

The director announced that we would take a break until a decision had been made.

About 20 minutes goes by and we are all standing around talking, replaying everything that was said and questioning everything that we did. All 3 nominees and there families were talking to one another and I went to each nominee and said that even though I didn't know until tonight that I was in a competetion, that they were all fierce competetion and I wished them the best of luck.

Me talking to some of the crew, while JoRae, sitting on the right, and her friends watch. The girl with the dark hair, standing behind the woman in pink, holding a video camera, was adorable. When she first met me she hugged me and said she felt like she knew me my whole life. I was confused and then she explained that she was the one in charge of gathering my secret footage. She said I felt like a sister to her. I really liked her. She told Red she was pulling for me to win over all the other nominees! She is the one that Red thinks loved his accent.

At this point it really is a toss up. April is 30 years old and dresses like she is 16 and just discovered her body. She was emotional and crying and that makes for good T.V. JoRae was stuck in the 80's and was cold as ice. She was clearly not going to be an easy person to change or teach new things too. That also makes for good T.V.

At this point I knew both of them were better qualified than me.

About 20 minutes passes before Stacey and Clinton walk back in the room. They are ready to announce the winner of "Worst dressed woman in D.C."
