Actually in Barbados, I did note that they had many *signs* - especially pon the buses asking the citizens to keep the place clean...
A wonder if dat have anything fe do with it?

Dont know what the heck it is..
but the *white likkle thingys* thats sticking out, actually moved constantly...




Another likkle red crab just sitting there , rather still hoping that no one notices him...

Ahh, 777 your pics bring back fond memories! I have spent alot of time there in the past few years. Actually, my ex fiance lives there [img]/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif[/img]

I always find it interesting when people say how expensive it is, because I never found it to be so - did you stay on the West Coast or South? I typically stay on the south coast - after my very first trip there, and realizing how safe the island was (I also found Bajans to be very friendly - some a little too friendly, lol), I started scouting out different places to stay - My last trip, I rented a room in a guest house on the beach - you shared the kitchen, lr, and two baths with 4 other rooms - the cost was $25 a night.

Some of the restaurants can be pricey, but since I live near NYC, I found it cheaper than home.

Someone posted that they wanted to go in July - try to go towards the end of the month during Crop Over - the music and fetes are so much fun! I don't think we slept except on the beach the two weeks we were there for that!

Nope, wish I had spoken to u regarding the cost of a place to stay...
$25 per night is a great price...
did u have all your meals out, or did u self - serve..(term I hear used so often in Barbados)

We have always done a little of each - Always have to eat at Josefs or Pisces - both pricey, but wonderful food. We typically do breakfast and lunch in, and dinner out - Cafe del Sol is good and reasonable, the Horseshoe, Suga Shack, The restaurant in Quayside Centre, Bean and Bagel, Oistens, and the street vendor in the Gap has the BEST fish and macaroni pie.

The house where we stayed is owned by a company called Karibik Tours - It is owned by a German woman, and the housekeeper was the sweetest woman - I am a huge reader, and I ended up leaving her the books that I had finished on my trip. Here's the link - http://www.barbados-rentals.com/frameUK.htm

For me, I just need a clean bed and shower - don't need all the fancy hotel accomodations, because I don't spend alot of time in the room - why pay for an expensive closet?

The Oistens fish market..
where we bought fresh fish to bring back.
U just buy the fish from the local guys, who are getting it from the local fisherman, and spears guys..
Snappers, blue fish, butter fish and the works only cost 2.90 a pound, equavalent to 1.45 cents US per lb..

thats the point, just didnt know that the place was expensive..
I think when u dont know....
but if u know of alternatives it better.
We booked thru a travel agent, and so we went with a price that she quoted for us..
We usually dont do lunch in, because we are usually on the road (car rentals is a must for us) and see the local sights...and plus get a chance to sample the local foods..(dats one of the best part me tink [img]/forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img] )...
so on days, when we are not doing the beachy thing (usually in the mid day or evenings..) we are off to roam and roam..
We did eat out a couple of nights though, but when u get bills that can total over a $1000 US just for eating out......
I dont know....
Barbardos, from what I have seen, is pretty pricey..
Some nights, because we had a fridge and a stove, we ate there..
In fact, for one who has seen a good many caribbean islands, I am astonished at the cost of eating at a local restuarants for dinner..
I am particular bout me dinners now..
Dont like too much junk at that point...just want some good homecooked food..
I can do the junk fe lunch, but not for dinner..

Here she is trying to show me, because I just couldnt get it from the instructor. I was about ready to give up, cuz I didnt feel like *drowning* , but she encouraged me, along with duaghter who was determined that I would learn. and I did We went out one day just to see the underwater world around the coral reefs. Didnt have a underwata camera, so I couldnt show u what i saw..
We did also get a chance to feed the fishes, who ate straight outta our hand. That was cool.. [img]/forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif[/img]

we stopped at a local place called Cheffette..
and had the best rum and raisin icecream cone ever!
This cone was mine... [img]/forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif[/img] by the way, so I had to hurry up and snap before it would be gone...

If u think jamaica's icecream is good, u just havent tried the bajan's version...
