It's not your typical Caribbean culture...kept as a big secret for years...but I do believe they are mixing more now so people will gradually come to understand why it is they are so peaceful and delightfully easy-going.

It's not always something you can "see". For the most part you have to be living among people to truly understand the nuances that govern them.

For example, how could you ever describe being fully Jamaican to someone who has not lived in Jamaica? People haffi experience it fi demself. Dere is no real way fi explain what people have against people from St. Elizabeth...fi arguments sake.[img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif[/img]

That's why when mi travel, mi usually just mekk up mi mine fi see di sightsand see what glimpses I might be able to get of the culture... because you cannot really feel the crux of the culture in a day or two.

I am almost sure that whoever made these ratings had help from residents.

Did you know that the majoroty of black Barbadians do noty own the kand their houses sits on? it is called 'chattel homes'. They actually move the houses to other sites,when they get notice from the land owners.

Dis nuh have nutten to do wid eye appeal...cause Bahamas nuh look good at all. Cirteria prolly include access to education, crime rate, available jobs, and tings like dat.

Pepper, not all part of the Bahamas will fit your description...and the only reason I am mentioning this is because most people think that by seeing Nassau on the island of New Providence, they have seen The Bahamas.

Freeport on Grand Bahama, for example, is beautiful city in many sections, because, as they say, it was a place designed specifically as a playground for millionaires. When that notion fell through, 'regular' people got to live there...with the infrastructure intact.

There are 700 hundred islands, twenty three of which are inhabited and although I have only been to two...so far... I hear that for the most part, in terms of island living, the islands are awesome in scenery and the little that they have.

Nassau is the only one that tends to be congested but its plus is that it's rich in history pretty much like Kingston.

Been to Freeport and paradise island. Bahamas is not lush and green. It's flat and plain, like Cayman. I'm not impressed with either country.

Sorry? what for? You are surely entitled to your opinion.

People say similar things about Jamaica and I also bring points that they may have overlooked to their attention... not to persuade but for them to factor in their opinion....as to why someone else might have an opinion that's different from theirs.

Some people like the idyllic island living and all that comes with it; some don't.

Some like the concrete jungle and all that comes with it; some don't.

Nothing to be sorry about.
I guess the judges were looking at a wide cross-section of the pluses and minuses of each country on their list.
