the ACTUAL basis of the rankings is ...

The annual index is largely viewed as the hottest spots on the planet to live and reviewed a total of 177 countries. The rankings are based on a review of GDP as well as adult literacy, education and life expectancy rates.

I was told the murders in Jamaica last year topped 1500 ... so life expectancy is not as high as the Islands that are ahead of us in the rankings

Our economy is in rough shape so not surprising GDP would not favour us

and of course education ... we do educate our population BUT lose 75% of that educated population to migration

why you ask ?

well the prospects of getting killed may be one reason ... another is that the Island is so corrupt that most companies that try to invest get fed up after they get robbed and ripped off from the people in power ( both sides ) as well as the local fiefdoms run by their " Dons " like a scene out of a mafia movie that get paid " protection " money

Bottom line is Jamaica is by far a more beautiful Island to alot of the Islands ranked above it ... but we have some serious issues to deal with to " clean up " the country so people can walk down the streets and feel safe again ( you have to go back a few decades to remember a time like that sadly )

What Jamaica needs is a true LEADER ... someone that is honest and true ... a true visionary that will be able rid government corruption and bring crime under control ... that will bring your educated population living abroad BACK to the Island to reinvest in the economy

It needs a complete change of policy,and no leader wull do that. it will only be done when those who benefioots from the status quo realize that they have mnore to liise than toi gain fronm the policies.
It is all about race. Jamaica has a higher life expectation than any of the other Caribbean countries.
When it was a colony although the majoruty was illiterate,much more poverty stricken and wasn't even allowed to work in the stores. much less open a banl account. They claim that it was the best place on earth. In Barbados where the majority of blacks do not own the land their houses sits on,they claim it is better.
The life exotatuin,literacy and qualuty fo life was worse. Yet it was rated better. So go fool yourself,.
Using GDP as a measure of propserity is pure nonsence.
It can fool ony those who don't know anything about economics,and mational accounting. With th enumber of poaper corporations that bloats their GDP without anything more thanthe annual corporation fee left in th ecountry . Their national acounting looks good bot only on paper.
It is all about where white people can feel leas threatened to not just to live, and those who are so inclined,feel comfortable to degrade blacks,without any fear of confrontation.. Yes murder rate tops 1500,but the mortality rate is still in the high 70's.
...but the majority still live in their late 70's.</span>

Nowhere did I say that that person be hand selected by anyone ... but a true leader is one that will provide vision that people can rally around and a movement toward change

The time after independence but before the spiralling crime rates is what I was referring to as a " quieter and safer " Jamaica ... not the country depicted in the crime statistics below

well it is really speculation as to t,that it refers to the states and not the people. Since the state is suppose to be in reality the people. Any way even that motto did not stop a civil war, why would a motto stop Jamaicans from seing the racism that motivates an act?
