the drug war is not consistent with their talk about "freedom" and it serves only as a racist tool against black people.

again, i think smoking is abnormal but i'm asking for consistencies in policies.

And I clearly said that God created all these plants that when used properly could benifit mankind but instead we see these being abused. And furthermore you cannot tell me with a straight face that cannabis sativa has not taken it's toll on human lives. The plant is illegal even if you were to grow in a pot in your bedroom unda yuh window. The reason being that it has hallucinogenic properties and folks have been known to do some wierd stuff under the influence of weed. Furthermore if you use it is it highly likely that you got it through an illicit source. Now there is where the toll has been taken on human lives: the growth, sale, importation and the pushing of this drug ah mean weed for use has taken many lives because it is branded illegal...and as will it should be [img]/forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif[/img] .

Although in the Netherlands ganja is legal, they don't fully understand the great qualities of it. It's in fact so that the selling to a coffeeshop is forbidden, but the buying of ganja in a coffeshop is legal. It took years before it was legalised for medical use etc. People do know too less about the herb, while discussing about if it should be legalised or not! Why are cigarettes legal? No one ever died of using ganja. Many are dying from lungcancer due to smoking tobacco. Why is alcohol legal? Same thing and causing much accidents. And it is very addictive. Ganja isn't!

Jamaica could mae a lot of money in ganja industry when legalised. Check King Dahjah's poost for the many uses of the herb. That could bring in more money to the government, to the workers, etc than cigarettes would do. And when legalised the police have more time to fight the real criminals!

Legalise it! Worldwide!

First of all thanks for the poetry!

Secondly you are quite wrong about smoking weed not causing lung cancer. The causative factor in lung cancer is the carbon monoxide which is produced by all kinds of inhaled smoke, cigarette's have other deliterious effects mainly associated with nicotine which primarily affects the blood vessels and hence contributes to a higher risk of heart disease.

Now as to whether it is addictive or not here is the paradox, while it may not be addictive, with repetitive use the effect of the drug is markedly diminished particularly in those who are regular users. Increased amounts therefore are required to spark the same high each time. What has been found in many cases is that those users usually end up experimenting with enhanced weed or other types of drugs to achieve the same high. Many weed smokers graduate from weed to cocaine and even heroin, those who have not been able to sustain these expensive habits and the bodies need for the drug have most often resorted to "CRACK" a cheaper yet deadlier more addictive habit than either heroin, cocaine or marijuana combined.

I am saying this to say that this is not a simple matter and marijuana smoking does open the door for other forms of addictions and drug experimentation including alcoholism.
While I realize what Dahjah is alluding to yet still I donot believe that ganja is something that can be promoted in any way shape or form especially when there are the weak minded and KIDS [img]/forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif[/img] to be considered.

About the lungcancer....you could be right, but consider that ganja is not for smoking only...you'd better cook with it or make some nice tea...

About the cocain and stuff...here in the Netherlands it's proved that it is not the case. People who are allowed to smoke ganja, don't use cocaine and stuff to experiment. If kept illegal, the chance is much bigger, 'cause the cocaine etc can be bought in the same illegal circuit. If you put the ganja out of that illegal market the chance of getting involved with other drugs is much lower!!!

And of course I don't say that even kids should be allowed etc...for sure every human being must have the knowledge and the choice to know what they're doing. Ganja must not be abused. But used properly, it's a great herb!!!!

More propaganda gyabidge, ppl do not do anything from tekkin ganja, dat is actually de problem wid de abuse of it. Ppl nuh waan duh nuttin, dem get lazy, an de mind jus stawt roll.

King D, lets say you needed brain surgery. If, as you pulled up to the hospital on the day of your operation, you saw the surgeon and the anesthesiologist likking pipe in the parking lot before coming in to work, would you go ahead with the surgery ?

It sure isn't and it sure does, you're absolutely right on both of those points Trelli.

In the US you can explain most government policies by following the money....who would benefit from keeping ganja illegal and who would benefit from legalization?

Answer that, see who has more money and thus more political power and there you will find your answer.

Our state had a vote a ouple of years ago on an issue that would have had first time non-violent drug offenders automatically given treatment instead of jail.

It was defeated. The money for the side that wanted to keep jail came from alcohol distributors and pharmaceutical companies...the same type of companies that provide most financial support the government's Office of National Drug Control Policy, the one that does those silly commercials where the kid gets high then shoots his friend or the girl gets high and gets pregnant.

Follow the money.

And just to preempt an obvious dodge, yes I know there are doctors out deh who bun pipe, an drink white rum, snort coke etc. etc., but a no dat mi a deal wid. I am asking eff you personally see, the ones that are about to put you to sleep and open your head to cut into your brain smoking ishen minutes before surgery, would you go ahead with the operation ?

If I may....I personally would have no problem with a doctor that smoked ganja or drrank alcohol on his/her own personal time.

...but I don't wnat a doctor to be high on ANYTHING when s/he's doing surgery!
