Queen, Sistagirl, Thanks for the info.

My 13 year old has expressed interest in seeing the movie. I had been contemplating seeing it first and then making a decision about him viewing it.

But now I am sure we can go see it together without my preview. Over the past year, he has taken his spirituality more seriously, and is very concerned about his walk with the lord. So, I think WE are ready.

Pepper, thats awesome! I believe that our young people who are striving..and taking their relationship with God seriously WILL absolutely be changed by this movie. It will have an impact in how they see themselves and the lives that they lead.. in relation to Jesus and HOW he died for them...

I am kinda nervous about seeing it to tell the truth I plan to take a box of kleenex. And yes I am dying to see how my kid will react.

I was so excited when I left work early yesterday but when sitting there my heart was pounding with expectations..I was so focused..I didn't want to miss a thing..my sister was sitting there on one side of me with her bible o/ and my co worker was on the other side of me rollin her eyes (lol) she had a nervous look on her face [img]/forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]

Girl you just have to go...and yes take your kleenex and sit on the end [img]/forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img] so you can throw yuh han up like this o/

Yes it was very crowded but not sold out. When leaving though there was a line around the lobby area.. I left work to go and thats probably why it wasn't so bad. I bet the evening crowd is bigger.

if kids r being taken to prisons, outbound scenarios etc to be shown the enormity of the choices they have made, along the 'wrong' road, they should be taken to see this movie to see the enormity of this 'good' choice


if anyone who admits to having accepted Jesus for ALL He represents, leaves this movie with any hatred in his/her heart towards anything other than sin in the totality of the word, then they need to pray for insight

if any of any other faith leaves feeling put upon, then they need to pray to their deity for reinforcement of their beliefs

if anyone doubts that somewhere , somehow, Mel Gibson has not been given some insight in some way, then they need to reexamine their interpretation of judging....

i have studied the use of 'pathetic fallacy' and i have now come to a new appreciation of the term and the need to have coined the phrase....

similarly, the term 'juxtaposition'

how more clearly the story of the Bible, the life that Jesus lived, the lessons He taught, the example He set, the sacrifice He made, the totality of what He did and the little He asks of those of us who have heard , read, believe and say we live in His footsteps....
how more clearly it is in my mind and how lacking I am despite my belief that I believe in Him....it is not enough what i am doing with this life He has afforded me...

this is how i feel and i am committed to do better ...knowing the Words, having the belief is wonderful....but most of all I have to live the example every single moment

my heart is full , my senses heightened, and my commitment reasserted ....

i look forward to a later discussion about the nuances of the movie, the techniques Mel used to bring the sacrifice and the passion of what Jesus did

woa!!!pull up a second,people!! its a movieeee!!!
a film!..mel gibson directed the film,and kudos to him,he did quite a prolonged researc before embarking on such a sensitive topic.

but lets dispense with the emotional clap-trap,and the drama for a second,if you go into the cinema as a non-believer,you are going to come out as a non-believer....and if you go in as a believer,then you are only likely to come out feeling more entrenched in your beliefs.
the truth of the matter is,...the nature of film making presently, means that film makers can convey whatever message they set out to convey,and mel gibson made the film from the point of view as a believer.
there`s absolutely nothing made on celluloid that can possible convince me otherwise from a view point that I previously held.
if believers want to believe that jesus died for them,then feel free to believe,..just dont tell me that he "died for all of us"...duh!!!!!he didnt,he died because the romans saw him as an agitator,rightly or wrongly,...but they killed him,to prevent unrest.
he didnt die for me ,his death thousands of years ago,has absolutely no bearing,or importance on my life,anymore than the death of che` guevara,or mary queen of scots has on my existence.
mel gibson has managed to depict,..through special effects, a decent version of a man being thoroughly flaggelated,a very good piece of cinematic special effect even by today`s standards,....lets not start our own self-flaggelation by our emotional outbursts about what is simply an average piece of cinematic special effects.

With all this hoopla, I'm hoping it can have a lasting positive effect on the many Christians who are going to see it and those they hope will get "saved." After all, it's been eons since satan's been winning the war. Dude sabotaged Eden, snatched man right out of God's hands, ended up with his own kingdom plus all the kingdoms of the world, more than two thirds of the world's population, possesses people, have people in and out of church seeing him behind everything, have folks in Saudi Arabia throwing stones after him and trampling each other, have folks in church pleading blood, sprinkling holy water and having fits dealing with him at every turn. Heck, even though God is gonna toss him in a pit for 1,000 years, he will release him again to wreak even more havoc for some reason that's beyond me. This Lucifer guy's amazing I tell ya! Hopefully this film will help Christians put him in his place until the next blockbuster movie.
