PS: I really am not sure what your main argument is but I assumed it had to do with your obvious dislike for gay people and in this case, that they're more likely to abuse children sexually.

I have no particular opinion on it since I've never given much thought to it.

I am responding to your unfortunate claim that most pedophiles are heterosexuals which until now you have failed to prove(I disregard that biased statement from the people in sanfransico).

First of all, I provided 4 sources, not one.

Second, you give no reason for disregarding the Generation Five site except that their offices are based in San Francisco. That's your right but don't expect me to go off searching for sources that are based in a city you like better.

I'm thinking it has more to do with the fact that in the RC church, priests are alone a lot with boys but not girls...girls are entrusted to nuns more often, yes? Child sexual abuse is, I think, primarily a crime of opportunity. What children are accessible will determine what children are most abused.

In the sections headed:

and

Table 4.3.1 GENDER OF ALLEGED VICTIM :

80.9 % or 8443 of the victims were male and 85.8 percent of the victims or 7,687, were age 10 years or older.

The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders Fourth Edition (Text Revision) or the DSM-IV-TR for short, defines pedophilia as “Recurrent, intense, sexually arousing fantasies, sexual urges or behaviors involving sexual activity with a prepubescent child or children.”

Of course not, no priest has ever been responsible for anything negative. No Christian has ever committed a crime. If they do, they're immediately defined as 'not true Christians'.

Which of course is not what I said and a wholly transparent attempt to avoid the point I was making.

The media and indeed this thread, have continued to describe the priests who assaulted the young people as pedophiles and in most cases this is not the case. They are, for the most part, men engaging in sex with young boys against their will. And this is homosexual rape. Which is no less reprehensible than the pedophilia that was also occuring but to a much lesser extent.

Why this simple fact should obscured by the definitional sleight of hand on the part of many who raise this issue is anyone's guess.
