MrsCruz, when last you live in a house with dirt floor and only running water was a stand pipe in the back yard. Some people around this world work their A** off to live like that....AND they are happy with it. Americans are percieved as spoiled because even with what they have they still whine and complain bout things.

im not trying to be hostile and my father was very ignorant thank god my mother was not he thought everyone was spoiled because of his poor upbrining in france.
we were also very poor when we were children growing up on a farm in the south so its not like i dont know what its like to need things.
the only reason i wanted to know how jamaicans feel is because i work with all jamaicans and hatians and i want to hear things from their points of veiw and i didnt want to ask at work i just didnt think people would be as honest because we are friends and if they said how they feel they might offend me! strangers dont care who i am

Yuh know a lot of people don't have clean running water, electricity, and discarding food is not an option.

If you went home today and were told:

Pep...can you imagine....The uproar that americans would make it water was turned off for a day...let alone a week. Heck they cry and carry on when the cable gone and they missed their favorite TV show....( nuh bodda mention that I called cable company this weekend to complain...)

But this brings to mind, when hurricane Ivan swept across Jamaica, electricty was shut down island-wide. I remember hearing the news broadcast about this and was chatting with a friend of mine. I said 'can you imagine if they did that here in Florida?' He laughed and said 'it could never happen because the people would be in uproar'.

i would react the same way we did in the country just deal with ittry to make the best of what ever you have!
i lived in a house with no running water no bathroom and if you wanted to eat you had to grow your own stuff or starve we lived 23 miles from our nearest town and without a car you have to sit and wait for help if you needed so i know what its like to have the very basic

I know that Treasure Beach had no current for 3 weeks after Ivan. It was probably like 2 weeks that people had to drive to get water.
