i've spent time all over the world and americans are not very well liked.
my father is french and has a bad opinion of most americans he always says they are ungrateful for all the wealth that they have.
i would like to know were all the wealth is because its not in my bank account i work very hard just to pay bills and when the bills are paid im happy i dont have to have a bmw and live in a mansion happiness is not about finances.

"Wealth" does not always imply money or finances..

You have a lot to your disposal that a lot of people in this world dream of. Like food and water. Trus mi to some people if yuh have di basic food and clean running wata yuh is weathly

Mrsbcruz, I was under the assuption that you just recently heard "Americans are spoild...", but by your own statements, your father frequently makes the same statements. But Mrsbcruz...you are ONE person...you cant compare your lifestyle and say that its EVERY american that live that way.

And if you own father say the same thing...why is it confusing to you that Jamaicans say it too?

(btw I am american born and agree that most of this society is spoiled. Spoiled doesnt HAVE to mean money and wealth either.)

We are all intelligent people here, and we have to say that Americans have more than a lot of people. The lowest income earned in America may be considered wealthy is a lot of countries.
This also prove the point that maybe Americans are spoilt and is not satisfied (or like your father said - ungrateful) with what they have. Just be happy you are able to pay your bills - even if you DONT have a BMW parked in your garage. Maybe you have to make do with a Toyota (God forbid)

You CAN get food, water and shelter in this country if you have no money. That is why we have shelters. It may not be lavish, but it is available. Some countries do not have shelters or have shelters or hand outs. The are glad to to catch rain water in a bucket.

Yuh know a lot of people don't have clean running water, electricity, and discarding food is not an option.

If you went home today and were told:

Ms Cruz, please catch a 7 day supply of water because you will not have water for at least 6 days. And the electricity will be out for the next 3 days and sporadic for 5 days after that.

How would you react?
