My mom is from Mississippi and the first time I went there and found out about outhouses and bedpans, I pledged not to pee until I got back home. That didn't work. [img]/forums/images/graemlins/704555_dwl.gif[/img]

I was cool with pumping my own water because it was cold and tasted so fresh. But when I had to take a bath in a big galvanized tub on the front porch IN FRONT OF EVERYBODY, I could have died on the spot. [img]/forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif[/img]

Mrsbcruz, please to remember what BikeRakk said. If you're not careful, you will be perceived as "hating" Jamaicans and you've already been asked the proverbial question, "Why did you come to this website?" Some things, you may have to ask your coworkers to avoid the insinuations , the jeering and the accusations of being someone else in disguise. Trust me on this one.

To your topic. America is a country where there is much freedom and opportunities galore. Hence the mad dash for foreigners to flee their country and come here. Dreams and goals are fulfilled here, wereas, people in other countries are greatly hindered by war, poverty, oppression, leaders, governments, religion, etc.

We (Americans) have our share of setbacks and things that keep us down. But for the most part, everybody can achieve if they tried. Due to the fact that we have these opportunites and have the freedom to pursue them, yet we (per se) moan and complain about the least things, when they are at our fingertip, we are, in essence, spoiled. We do not appreciate the basic things that we have and that others die for. Not just material things.

On the flip side, foreigners who are now residents or citizens of this country, have also adapted the same spoiled attitudes. They have acquired wealth and freedoms and have become as spoiled as any American born person. I know of foreigners who have came here, became prosperous, and have not been back to their native land since they left. You would think they were born with a silver spoon in their mouth and never walked bare foot, on brown dirt, in the house, a day in their life. Some grew up in a bush and live here as though they were born in Buckingham Palace. Too spoiled to remember the bridge that brought them over.

So that bug has bitten people of all races, nationalities, creeds and religions. It's not just Americans. Because we have more freedom to exercise our rights and pursue our dreams, that in itself differentiates us from other countries, so that we are perceived by those countries, to be spoiled. IMHO.

i never ment to seem against the jamaican people for any reason. i just wanted my question answered from a non american because if you ask that here people dont think they are spoiled and they think that life is so bad.
if they visit other places outside of the us they would be more grateful for what they do have.
i have travled extensively and found that people have one opinion about americans and its usually that they are spoiled and ungrateful.
I come to jamaica every year to see some old friends and to enjoy the beauty of the island the people have been nothing but kind to me and
I intend on visiting till the day i die i could never be against anyone or anything jamaican.

Me live America for over 20 years now and fi tell you the living truth, It really spoil me.

Because everything is just there for me at touch of a button and the flow of money in your hand day out and day in.

I can give away things, because I now there is a store down the road that have more so I could go
back and buy more.

Here in the USA we take almost everything for granted because it is so convenient.

farm store

In America the "average" working class stiff can go and play a round of golf and not worry sbout if he is not going to be able to have enough money left over to feed his kids. Not true of the "average" Jamaican worker.

you serious MiloMan? the average Joe in america does not belong to a country club.

and, from my experience, the "average joe" white, black, yellow does nothing more important than to find a way to keep his children safe and sound.

Bink I'm not talking here about joining a country club i'm talking about playing a round of golf. There are plenty of places to do that for the "average joe" in America for approx $30 - $40. If we are talking about an average American worker (middle class) then it is not a big deal.
