from what I know of rastafarianism, as someone pointed out,they take the good and discard what they think is bad,with regards to christianity.
there are some things written in the bible that most definitely deserves a "bun fyah" as they not only insults our intelligence and borders on the rediculous,but really does defy credulity.
rastafarianism has somehow taken the altruistic aspects of the bible and form a basis for their beliefs.I can also identify more with a faith that sees their "god" as a living human than one borne out of myths and legends.

I hear you Neutral but why take a part of the book and leave the rest you or I think is NOT for us? But then again, I wonder which parts of the Bible they accept and which parts they don't?

Is it a case of "it must be good because it tastes good and if it tastes bad it can't be good?"

My big problem with christianity is the discipline it requires. But that's my problem. I hate that it goes against my selfishness, my lusts, my nice cozy self decpetions, my ego and so forth. But again, that is my problem. It reminds me of living in my parents house. Most of their rules went against what *I* wanted to do so needless to say, I hate their stupid rules and found all kinds of ways to reason them away to make them easier for me to break them. Kinda like me being in geography class and saying, "why do I have to study this stuff? Who the hell needs to know this to get ahead in life?" With that kind of thinking I then proceeded NOT to learn.

Most people only spout fronts if you ask me. The Bible is blah blah blah and God is blah blah blah. What they are really not admitting is that both require things that goes against out our personal desires to do what the hell we want. As in our real worlds, we can't wait to reach an age where no one can tell us what the hell to do, when to come and when to go, who to screw and who to tell "F off." It is no different on the spiritual side in respect to Christianity in it's purest form. As G.K Chesterton once said, "it’s not that Christianity has been tried and found wanting. No, it’s been found difficult and left untried." This of course does NOT include those who have been hurt by false leaders, teachers, and can't get past the observations of hoodlums using the guise of Christainity to inflict their damages. Then again, Jesus sure was not spouting nonsense when he said that the road traveled by the true Christian is a deserted one. Few find it and few travel it for it is a VERY narrow road paved with struggles. It requires a faith and a discipline to travel I admittingly find hard. Then again that is my problem.

Mutty, Christianity, Islam, Judaism,and Rastafari all have the same heavy discipline yuh talk bout.
They all have this narrow road to reach heavens gate, and a wide road to reach de oddah place.

Suh nuh mekee soun like chriatianity is de ONE that it is so difficult to follow.
Out of all of them Islam is probably the hardest to follow. But we see few examples of how a true muslim is to live.
The black muslims I know seem to live an honest disciplined life, but who am I to say so when mi knaw guh home wid any a dem.

I have a question, which constantly bothers me daily, with so many very different religions and lifestyles out here...how do you know which one was right? With this one not believing in this, and that one not believing in that...how do "we" know which belief(s) to follow?

questions to ask
1. on what are its teachings based? are they from GOD or man 2timothy 3:16; Mark 7:7
2. consider whether it is making known the name of GOD. Jesus said in paryer to GOD "I have made your name manifest to the men you gave me out if the world" (John 17:6)
3. Is it largely ritualistic, a formality, or is it a way of life? GOD strongly dissaproves of religion that is merely formalism (Isa. 1:15-17). true religion upholds the Bible's standards of morality and clean speech instead of weakly going along with popular trends (1Cor. 5:9-13). Its members reflect the fruits of God's Spirit in their lives (Gal. 5:22,23)
4. Do the members truly love one another? Jesus said "by this all will you are my disciples, if you have love among yourselves" John 13:35. Such love reaches across racial, national, social boundries.
5.Is it truly separate from the world? Jesus said that his true followers would be "no part of the world" (John 15:19). To worship GOD in a manner that he approves requires that we keep ourselves "without spot from the world" (Jas. 1:27)

These are some of the requirments for true followers of our Almighty Creator. Keep seeking and you will find the answer you are looking for

Good questions to ask, Kumba, but seem like really hard standards for a church/faith to live up to. One example: There is a church in my neighborhood that I have named "The Church of the Everlasting Drama." The people for the most part are one back-biting, badminded set mi tell ya. Cannot get thru a service without gossip and scandal. Them fire dem own pastor. Dem talk bout what you wearing, what car ya drive. The pickney dem get into physical altercations during "Sunday School." No lie. Mi haffi walk on fram dat. But the pastor surely had the bit about tithing down, and nevah let ya figget. It take all kinds, without the bad how ya know the good?

Dahjah I was writing in response to Neutral post. I am well aware other religions have their disciplines too. The one I am closet to, Christianity, is the one I placed in view. I was not discussing the others nor was it my intention to make Christianity seem like the only hard thing out there to follow.

there is a voice inside us all.
That voice is bigger than any man made religion, bigger than any scripture we can find.
If we tune in and listen we will know.
GOD is talking us, all we have to do is listen.
But some will say the devil made me do it, cause they don't have a God conscience.
Some have been told the same thing over and over again till they stifles that voice from within, so then they can't hear it anyway. They don't want to go into the real world of spirituality cause it would render nuff a dem beliefs as foolishness.
The real world of spirituality does not function on these levels, it's good over evil and movements aren't premade.
Faith is knowledge and communication with the creator is the only way---blinf faith could leap you stright into a pit.
