Waiting On The Lord...

Most if not all of us who are Christians, or have been to Church, are familiar with Isaiah 40:31; "But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint."

During those times when you have prayed, and you sense the answer to be "Wait", "No", "Not Yet", or even when there seems to be no answer at all, how much patience do you have to wait on the Lord? What do you do during those times?

Patience is a virtue that i dont possess, but in this case i just leave it up to God or follow my mind.

In answer to your question. It depends on the issue and the time frame. If it's something I want very badly, it's SO hard to be patient when the situation drags on year after year after year with no sign of resolution. I must say though in some tough areas like getting a business up and running, God has proven time and time again that he is more than able. With each breakthrough in that area, it becomes easier to be patient about business related matters even when there are delays.

Hi Tropicana. Very interesting response. Are we at liberty to choose the areas of our lives in which we are willing to trust the Lord?

Whenever I pray about something and I'm waiting on God to do His thing and answer me - In the waiting process, I always pray that He will increase my faith and patience in the waiting game. It works for me, because the waiting can seem like an eternity if you are expecting an answer right away.

By asking Him to increase my faith in Him I know that He is more than able to do anything that I ask, so that allows me not to waver by limiting God's ability to do what I have asked in His name. Asking Him to grant me more patience helps so that the waiting doesn't seem as long.

Remember God doesn't work by time - our ways are completely different than His, but also keep in mind that He is never late, He's always on time. So when you think you need something yesterday, God may not come through until a few months later, but He's on time. If you think back you will see that when He came through for you was exactly when you needed it.

Me personally I just wait on what he has is store for me. And as I wait I continue to pray and believe in him and and don't stay focused on the natural. I see things turning around in the supernatural. you have to become what you believe. You gotta believe it once you see it.

I think at some point in time we all struggle with the waiting. There are numerous testimonies of people who have gone ahead of God, done their own thing, only to end up back at square one. How can one please God if not through faith in His Soverignty? Hebrews 11:6 reminds us "But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him." There really isn't any ambiguity or mystery to it at all.

Waiting for me is simply a matter of putting things into perspective. If I can trust God with my eternal salvation, I can easily trust Him with the day to day things that pertains to me. After all, if He cannot get it done, who can?

What is interesting to me are those who act as if they cannot afford to wait on the Lord, yet expect Him to bless their self-pursued and self-created endeavours. It really doesn't work that way at all, and when things doesn't work out, guess who gets blamed?

I am very impatient so this is right up my alley. What I try to remember is all of the times that I prayed for that job and automatically thought the job was mine only to find out it wasn't and here comes God on time and gave me a better job....yes, the job that I thought was mine is no longer there...all laid off!!! waaaaiii God is good ee?

I think about how I struggled with ____ for so long.... only to be delivered for a lifetime and how he DID come through for me on HIS time but he didn't save _______from it because he is dead...

so reflection for me reminds me to put my trust in HIM who has always, always, always always had my back. I still get impatient but each and every time it happens I end up saying "Lord, you did it again...sorry for being so impatient" /o

Does waiting imply absolving yourself of responsibility? What I mean is, if you have a goal and you ask your god's help, do you still work toward that goal in your own way, or do you completely give it up until you "hear" otherwise?

Changing Our Desires:

Have you ever thought about the fact that God may want to change your desire and then fulfill it?....many times we miss God's richest blessings to us because we refuse to even think about changing our desires.

I know you believe it's impossible for your unfulfilled desire to change, but just be willing to let God do it if that is his will...God is capable of changing you and your desires, beyond your wildest dreams.

Then, sometimes our desires go unfulfilled because we're in God's waiting room. Why does God put us in the waiting?

---First, because he gets our attention that way. We tend to stop, listen and look up.

---Second, we learn things in the waiting room we'd never learn any other way.

I have to tell you that I don't enjoy the waiting room. But I don't know any effective Christian that hasn't spent significant time waiting for God to answer, and thinking God is really making a huge mistake by not moving on our timetable. But God doesn't run on a clock or on our schedules. And many times we must learn to wait for his answer, all the time not knowing if He will answer or not.

If you are unemployed and you are "waiting on the Lord" WRONG! you need to be putting in job applications and tryin to find a job!

If you are praying on where you need to be in terms of using your gifts you don't need to rush into a big endeavor like buying a company (he may not want you there) but wait on God's direction (through prayer) for direction. That doesn't mean that you sit idle it means that you explore your options, go to seminars, etc.

God helps those who help themselves.

Interesting article Queen and I agree a VERY tough pill to swallow. I sincerely hope my time in the waiting room is drawing to a close. 12 years is WAY too long to expect any human being to be patient.
