With millions scouting the stock markets at this hour globally looking for opportunities, have we reached a point where interest and security can only be asessed interms of rates of gain and maximization of super profits.
I keep hearing references to the beast of oil and the implications for our lives future expressed in the current conflict of war. Is this an overstatement or is the world really just in too deep with economic growth and a development model that is wrecking lives. Can we find no other way to look at humanity than interms of dollars and cents.
Todays editorial in the Jamaica observer seem to believe that you the global citizen who have signed unto globalisation are the ones "Feeding the Hungry Beast".
you may find exceprts below along with linx...
At the same time those with the ability to participate in the Great Game have dwindled substantially -- down, essentially, to a single player... a sole superpower with a new construct of the world and a willingness to fashion an order in its own image. That order that is unconstrained by doctrines of collective security and international law. And it arrogates unto itself the right of Regime Change and Pre-emptive Strike. Worse, there is no specific criteria for the application of Regime Change or any real capacity for peer review.
Military and technological might is fed by economic power. A hungry beast that has to be continually fed. Might and wealth go hand in hand.
So there will sometimes be coincidence between Regime Change and economic intent. What, perhaps, would be the case if the oil taps to the market were to flow unrestrained and OPEC was ineffectual?
Regime Change would make tremendous sense.

PILOT's views. Just thought it important to state that well over 70 million americans are in the stockmarkets, in Japan atleast 70 % of its population are in the markets, Hong Kong, Turkey, Canada, indeed its Europe which have also seen incredible growth of buyers and sellers in the beast.
My Question is how much are we to blame for economic oppressive order of governments as we demand performances that allow us to gain wealth fast. How much is an improved economy fuelling Washington's decision to have war with IRAQ and when conscience comes into play should making a buck or two matter in the final policy decision?
The hypocrisy is obvious for intellectual types who even oppose the war are well deep into the world citizen ideaology of globalisation and so what we have are stakeholders jostling for their piece of whatever pie is located in the middle east ,africa or places not fully modernised as yet.
I notice France and Germany as well as Russia and China have had dealings with Iraq not to mention Arab nations, who have traded in arms and oil, now we hearing that economics has more to do with their opposition than principle.
For US companies stand to benefit more from the war economically, with infrasturture changes that will be needed as well as developmental industry that will have to be retooled and modernized.
I think the battle lines that have been drawn in public opinion of the war and consequences have not dealt with the fact that economics is crippling our world as we know it, mans instinct is now penned around economic indicators or market, prices, statistics associated with interest rates and currency exchange and this rate we are becoming deeper swollowed by the beast of speculation and risk both interms of assets such as real estate, and money instruments.

The greedmonster is in full play and it has no mercy on poor people, people who believe in voluntary simplicy and communual living. Just wait though for all this is doing is causing the winds to intensify from east to west, north to south as the distress signals get higher. The world is no more peacer today that before the liberalised economy and as we go deeper into media- technocracy led post modern era the sting is unabated.
Be careful how you put your faith in the markets, worshipping the image of the bullish golden calf, and the bullish world currency get out before you become apart of the deadly beast sins.
