Nice to see you back.
I did the cave tour and it's wonderful,ending at the pool in the bottom where a Rasta bathes you in the healing waters or so they say.
I love that tour and surrounding areas.
Did you ever see the drum makers in the hills.

Hey QueenB - Glad to hear you are going to JA in February. My 50th birthday bash is going to be on February 20 at a location in Negril soon to be annouced. So think about me when you plan that February trip. I have some folks I want you to meet. If I get enough folks to go, I'm going to try and "hire" Marilyn to come.

Norm told me he was doing some work at BBB. How does everything look over there? I am planning to stay there next month (not coming soon enough).

I can't wait to get home. The thought of my holiday is the only thing keeping me going right now. Work is interfering with my life.

Hi Queen...so soory to haer about the stress at work...but I'm with you, wear her down girl...what goes around, comes around..bwoy school is a deadly place for the staff, i worked as a bursar and P.A at one & couldn't believe the *****y staff room politics...but they nastiest people are usally the waekest, just gotta find her spot

ANYWAY....love the start of the trip report..must do roaring River one day (without Chef )it looks beautiful & to end it by being masseged by fit men....sounds a perfect day to me...

Past the Blue Hole, we continued up the hill towards Benji’s. The road got worse and worse. The large amount of rain this year has really wrecked the roads. Finally, Kim’s friend Kim couldn’t stand it any longer, and decided to continue up the road on foot to lighten the load. To add to my daughter’s distress, a white van was on her tail the whole way up the hill. He of course had plenty of clearance, and didn’t seem to see what our problem was.

We finally arrive at Benji’s yard. Lo and behold, there was what seemed to be a crowd of people there. Another group was there ahead of us. This was the first time in 6 trips that I’d ever run into anyone else there besides Benji, Captain, and other friends of Benji’s. Besides the bunch of neighborhood kids who were running around, we find out that Rasta Rich, another American and some others were there to swim and eat, so we kicked back on Benji’s veranda to enjoy the vibe and wait for our turn. Benji’s wife, Bev was there; this was the first time I had met her in person, so we all just sat around and chatted and relaxed.

After a while someone bought us food, what a great surprise. This seemed to help us with our “munchies” which was hitting us hard.



This was a great day. Rich presented Benji with a Jamaican flag with Bob Marley’s face emblazoned on it.



After the earlier crew left, we went down the path for a swim in the pool.

Path to the Mineral Pool:

As usual, the first dip takes your breath away, but it's not so cold that you can't get used to it. The water was deeper and running faster than I've ever seen it, and has cut deeper into the spillways, making it harder to get from rock to rock. (specially if you have short stumpy legs like mine) After a great swim and meal, we were ready to go. No problem, now. Kim got a ride on one of the guys motorcycle and was to meet us "down the hill". Even though we had the trick of getting down with minimal damage (2 wheels in the center, 2 wheels off center, no problem)Kim wasn't looking forward to the drive, but the trip down was uneventful. The next problem was keeping up with Tony on his motorcycle in order to retrieve Kim who was apparently in no rush to be retrieved. By the time we lost, found, then lost them again we were 1/2 way to Sav, I swear.

Finally we collected Kim and made our way back to Negril. Darkness set in, but I must be a good driving teacher, because my daughter handled those roads as though she had been traveling them all of her life. [img]/forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif[/img]
