I figured i start a new treat for the last 2 1/2 days because the first part is about to reach 5 page. I remember vaguely something about admin requesting mods close posts more than 4 pages and continue the discussion in a new post so I figured that is what i should. Anyway on with the show.......
Day 12
We wake up normally and start our day. I ask Isla if she would like pancakes from the bar for breakfast , yes she wants pancakes but she doesn't want to go to the Firefly bar to eat them When Grandma comes for coffee I ask her if she will stay with Isla while I go order her some pancakes. She agrees.
I go down and order some of these yummy pancakes I've been watching people eat on the few occasions I've been down at the firefly bar during the morning. I tell Megan my order and get a coffee and head down towards the beach. now this is the way to start the day. Drinking a cup off coffee near the ocean, watching the waves swish back and forth. It's very quiet down on the beach, I'm one of 2 guests sitting on the beach as far as the eye can see. i silently watch the lady next to the firefly hang her colorful wraps, and dresses, over the lines strung between the trees. I am Mesmerized by the array of colors and patterns as they dance, and sway in the ocean breeze. I find it interesting that 4 of the wraps she has for sale have tradition Celtic patterns, theres a turquoise blue and black one I'm particularly fond of. Maybe it's some genetic throw back from my Scottish ancestry, but I have always loved the fanciful lions and dragon designs woven into Celtic knots. I consider that later I may buy one, but for now I'm just content to watch it dance.
It takes quite a while for the pancakes to be ready but I don't care in the least, the morning is so warm, and quiet, I am enjoying every minute. And just for those minutes I forget all the worry and stress that has happened on this trip. This is one of those defining moments, one that embraces the perfect bliss I have felt in Jamaica, and few other places. The moment is over the pancakes are ready. I thank Megan, pay, and head off to the room. They do look delicious.
When I get back Grandma gives a look of disapproval at how long I was gone. but all is well, she goes back to her room and Isla sits down in front of her breakfast. she doesn't eat much , and I finish off the lovely fluffy pancakes. If i come back again, i will grill Megan on how she makes them. Very good.
Isla asks about Tony and the shell for the next few hours, I assure her he hasn't forgotten but I can't say when he will arrive. We draw a few pictures sit on the veranda and generally just spend a lazy morning not worrying about anything, well except for Isla and the shell. "What if he's forgotten, what if he doesn't come?" she repeats this every 10, or 15 minutes, until finally sometime in the afternoon grandpa comes bearing a large Conch shell Isla is ecstatic.
Tony has painted a nice design on it, maybe to cover it's slightly worn appearance, and maybe just to give it that special touch. Either way Isla loves it . Someone would like to see you Grandpa comments . "Tony?". Isla doesn't want to go down to the beach but I convince her she should give Tony a thank you present, like one of the nice drawings she's done.
She agrees, she really likes Tony so it isn't that hard to sway her, and we head down to the beach.
Tony comes over to greet us and Isla gives him her drawing which she has written "To Tony" on.
Tony had told Isla before she got sick that he would take her and show her how to collect and open almands from the almond tree. He asks her if she would like to gather some now, and try them. although Isla is still tired, and not feeling her best, she is very interested in finding out what Tony is talking about. They off walk towards the empty lot beside the Firefly. It's nice to see her out, and I'm hoping that I can keep her out of the room longer today than in past attempts since she's started healing. I follow behind camera in hand. I've gotten so few pictures of Isla outside the room since the first 4 days . i want her to have some visual record of her experiences on the trip besides her illness.
She gets to try a neese(sp?)berry too, but really doesn't like it, i eat one, and remeber I don't really like them either. she does like the fresh almonds though.
to be continued so i can post more pictures.......................
