Just found out that Sandals Montego Bay is located right next to the airport. This is where I will be staying at. Any idea if the noise level will drive me insane?

Re: Sandals Montego Bay
Hmmm...I only drove by Sandals - but let's think...do you really think Sandals would set their resort up in a location where they may lose customers to the horrible sound of planes taking off and landing at the Airport? Unlikely I would assume. I think the airport is far enough inland that you will not be bothered, but because I have not stayed there, I could not be 100% certain.
Hopefully someone else who knows Sandals better will reply!

Re: Sandals Montego Bay
HI!!! Been to Sandals MoBay many times .....location is definitely not a factor...they all have a curious habit of waving to all planes going overhead, but that was the only thing out of the ordinary I ever noticed...You are sure to have a good time.

Re: Sandals Montego Bay
We have stayed at Sandals Mo Bay twice and are thinking about going again in Nov./Dec. (either there or Sandals Negril). We love Mo Bay. The planes are not a factor, and they seem to stop flying over in the late evening. Have never heard one during the night. I'm curios to find out why Shortee hated it so much. Just wondering.

Re: Sandals Montego Bay
Well let me see why I hated Sandals so much! First of all, when my husband and myself got there no rooms were ready and it was after 3pm! Well once the rooms became ready they itried to put us in a room where it looked as if the furniture had is old and never gets dusted. Secondly, It seemed as if Sandals MoBay was catering to certain ethnic groups. They didn't even play any reggae dancehall music in there little nightclub until I complained over and over and over again! And then it only lasted about 10 minutes and when I brought this to the attention of the managers they tried to explain to me that the reason why they don't play dancehall reggae is because everybody can't appreciate dancehall reggae! Just a thought that maybe everyone hasn't been exposed to dancehall reggae to be able to appreciate it!Let's see what else, well we couldn't eat at 2 of the restaurants because we couldn't get reservations(no one told us to do all of this on our first day!)They had these little shows every night one of which was an Elvis Pressley concert, personally I don't want to travel to JAMAICA to hear Elvis Pressley! They didn't even play any Bob Marley music throughout the day over the speakers! Oh let me not forget, we had to complain about housekeeping not cleaning our room, they apologized but by then I was ready to come home! We were sitting in the amphitheater area one night having drinks and I had my Minolta camera on the table which none-the-less to say someone stole!(If it was an employee maybe Butch Stewart should pay them decent money and they wouldn't have to resort to stealing! ) Staying at Sandals MoBay was just like being on the beach in Miami! Bottom Line: Never Again For US! Any other questions?

Re: Sandals Montego Bay
To Shortee: I was just curious, that's all. We have enjoyed Mo Bay several times and never experienced anything like you did. I'm sorry your stay was so bad. I'm glad you told about your camera getting stolen though. I never considered the fact that someone might steal from us there. But you are right, the staff is poorly paid as one of the water sport instructors told us during one of our stays. It seems to me they are taking in an awful lot of money and could afford to pay a better wage. This is why my husband often breaks the "no tipping" policy.

Re: Sandals Montego Bay
We have stayed at Sandals MoBay many times. In fact it is our favorite Sandals Resort. Yes, you will hear the over head planes, day and early evening, but after a few hrs. you don't even notice the noise. Actually, you seem to forget about the planes until you see staff and guests raising their arms to wave. The saying goes, "see ya, wouldn't wanta be ya! We have never experienced any of the complaints that Shortee has. Staff is very accomadating. We have seen the "Elvis" show and actually he does a medley of "Reggae" songs during his show. Sandals MoBay is the oldest Sandals resort, rooms have some older furniture, but were always clean. They have recently done a lot of renovations, and now most rooms are new. As for getting into your room late in the day, I always carry a swimsuit, lotion and anything else you need for the beach,in a small separate bag. If our room isn't ready, we have a change for the beach. Eat lunch, have a drink and get ready for a wonderful time in Jamaica!

Re: Sandals Montego Bay
My husband just read the postings here and remebered what ablast we had with agroup of friends during the Elvis show. Our rooms also weren't ready the first time we visited, and I was a bit annoyed because I was hot and tired, but once we were on the beach I decided we were in paradise. It's all in the attitude, and we say "the lower the lattitude the better the attitude!" Can't wait to see Jamaica again soon!
