Rehearsal Dinner
I booked space for twenty people in the Italian Restaurant in the resort.
All in all we ate and had a great time. Food was okay but I've tasted better. It brought to mine a restaurant called Julia's in Bogue Hill, Montego Bay. I reming my Aunt of the time we had there 5 years ago. She says..."great idea...I'll take the girls there(her daughters)' WRONG!! Well apparently Julia's, which used to be a beautiful home high above the hills of Montego Bay, rolling green lawns, with a fabulous view of the city is now continental not Italian.
Now picture this...four women of varying ages in Montego Bay...we had a ball a few years back. And one of the highlights of the trip was our dinners. Julia's was known to have been visited by numerous celebrities. Framed pictures lined the walls as you entered the restaurant. The staff..lovely...the food...divine...the view...breathtaking and all for a decent price. Of course you had to go up a long narrow winding road up the mountain, with only cliff to your right!! God forbid a car...ugh! Here comes a car...anyway..you know the feeling.
Well! Apparently ownership changed hands and the place went downhill. My Aunt returned with her crew all complaining..mostly about the increased prices and the fact that Italian is no longer served, in addition to what one of my family members described.."a dangerous ride".
Between 6 women they spent almost $700!!! on dinner! [img]/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif[/img]
My Aunt is not a passive woman...so she complained to the management and got a newlywed dinner for us for free. Well we never made it to Julia's. I'll tell you why later .

I went to the bar and had a stripe and said to myself..."I'm not going to let people ruin my time." I made a promise to myself that I would not let family or friends complain to me all day long. So whenever someone said something to me regarding 'the room, the food, the heat, blah blah blah...' I just smiled and said, "oh really, what a shame..so sorry about that"...and went to get another stripe or hummingbird..and off to the water.

This trip report writing is really tough. Makes me appreciate them even moreso now! I think I'm typing alot,...hit post and realize it's only a short blurb on the screen...pheeew.

Come again....late evening....
My honey and I decide that we will not spend the night before our wedding together. Now we've been living together for some time now, I'm used to his snoring and we decide to be corny and traditional! HAHA
So I stay with my Matron of honor (we'll call her J) and her sister (C) in their room. It was actually kind of nice...we talked most of the night about men and kids and marriage. In the end I still wanted to get married! [img]/forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif[/img] My MOH (matron of honor...easier to type abbrev.) talked about her husband and her sister discussed the many trials and tribulations of hers. It was a nice little sleep over and it made me anxious about what's to come and to see my man in his tux the next day.

Sigh..wake up...morning high/ heaveness again!
I love it that I'm here...and sigh...double heave..I'm getting married today.

I look over to my girlfriend and say...I have been here two days and still have not stepped a toe in that ocean.
I ran around so much planning and making sure everyone arrived okay that I committed the ultimate jamaicaholic sin! How do you go home and not touch the crystal blue water for 48 ******* hours!! DANG!! or as Neutral would say.."bloody hell!"
She grins and says..."let's go!"
I throw on my black bikini...big as my you know what is..I still put one on and pick a spot on the beach. I lay back in sun and let it penetrate my stomach. I love the heat warming my belly and right away I get a rush and then butterflies from the feeling. Once baked enough I run to the water. Aaaa, I feel the emotion and my eyes glass over...no tears though...just glassy and moist.
It's beautiful, take it all in and make sure I try to memorize and concentrate on the smells.
MMMM, the salt water and sand, the tanning oil and coconut smell, the grill fired up to start the first batch of jerk...the hint of ganja...huh? DANG..no time like 8:30 in the a.m. to start 'climbing trees'.

I figured I'd give my honey time to make it to the buffet first and I'd go around 9:30 so we wouldn't run into each other. We didn't. Seems as if he left 10 minutes prior to my arrival with his parents. My other maid and best friend K treated me to a spa morning with hair, makeup and the works. After breakfast I shower and shave all the important areas and run to my 11am appointment at the resort spa. I had one wonderful lady take care of me the whole way. The only thing she didn't do was my makeup, in which that had another lady 'fix me up'.
In the end I felt wonderful....relaxed and calm. The Jamaican girls in the spa kept saying how they couldnt believe how relaxed I was. I sent my MOH, J, to go get me some jerk chicken, french fries and a large bottle of spring water. I sat back and ate, the whole time in heaven while I waited for the girl to finish braiding another ladies hair.

Tonks for the info OchiGal! Geeez I tell ya...
Hitmi..yes it is Sunset Beach in Mo'bay...let me tell you I was impressed. They do need some improvements in certain areas like slow elevators and they don't have freight elevators for staff.
Not that I don't like to share an elevator with staff but me, my hubby, a matress, boxspring and the bellman was too much...oh and no AC.

Ok back...I'm doing some marathon pic posting and typing here! haha

Hair and toes and makeup and everything else is done. They ladies in the spa ooooo and aaa at me. I take a gander at my self in the mirror,...tiara and veil, fully made up...and I feel like a Queen!
Oh accept for the booty huggin shorts and tank top...gotta go get dressed!!

The sky turned gray and black and the palm trees looked as if Zeus had a humongous hair dryer blowin on them. My best ladies K and J look at me and right away the support starts. "It'll be okay, rain is good luck...it's a blessing". The spa ladies nod their heads in agreement. "But nobody likes a damp bride...it's horrible!" Sky still not fully open, floodgates still being held back so I run to the room.

My Mom...the best Mom in the world has steamed the few wrinkles in my dress and hung it up nicely. All my trouseau is laid out on the bed...shoes, corset, etc. Then the dreaded call from the wedding coordinator, "think we may have to bring it inside...it's going to rain and the minister is half hour late!" I yell, "I AM getting married in the gazebo by the beach and it's final...my uncle will marry us and we'll take care of the legalities with the Jamaican minister later."
She says okay.
I start to tear and K looks at me..."girl it's going to be alright, things will work out...rain is a blessing". Now I'm a Christian woman but if I hear that one more time...somebody will get a row and thrashin' out of me. I hear from a messenger who peeks in the room that my fiance is waiting with the other men and is also demanding that we proceed without the minister and IN the GAZEBO...that's why I love him yall! :love:

I don't want anybody to see me so my cousin and MOH hold up a bedsheet as I walk behind it to the garden area. The Jamaican staff must have thought ...'deez crazy Americans..'.

What a time to be superstitious...but I had an attitude and I was the BRIDE..I didnt give a flyin..............'bloody hell'! (hahaha like that?)

To top it all off...the CD I burned with our wedding music is not working on their stereo system...eeeerrgh! I thought to bring a boom box with me but I was trying to keep the faith.
So I didn't and now I have to walk to their music...but oh...uh...Will Downing...aaaah that'll do..that'll do..not my song but I like it alot...and oh...Whitney Houston..'I believe in you and me'..the song I walk in with my parents to.

Tonks Ms. Sophistication...he is surely a gift. Of course we have our times like any couple but it works! I'm so glad the pics are showing up...finally took queenb's advice and went to imagestation. The other places took too long to upload and the quality was bad.
