Day 5......It is Thursday morning and I am up early and I do the morning ritual coffee, patio and my morning treat yes life is good this week [img]/forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]

I flled with mixed emotions this morning. I have been witimg for Thursday to come becasue it is the day we will get to go see the children at school and it is also the day we get to go check out The Jungle and a few other establishments But it is also brings us to our 5th day of vacation which means we only have 2 more days to go and you all know how fast the last couple of days go!

Well I was not going to let anything get me down today, today was the day I hwas waiting for and I was gonna enjoy it!!

Soloman was right on time, it was the ladies who were running a little behind There were only 3 of us that went, my sister and my best friend. We decided to leave the men behind so they could do some male bonding stuff like jet skiing and stuff like that

We ahd a very nice ride with Soloman, he pointed out areas and homes and things that he thought we might find interesting and we just had a great time!! it was also nice to go in a small group, it just seemed more relaxing.

We pulled into the parking lot of Little London Primary School and saw the children running about and playing, it must have been recess time. Soloman had told us that this is where he went to school when he was a young boy, he seemed to know his way right to the principals office hmmm We went into the office and met Mrs. Brooks the principal and she spoke with us and then we were off to the class we would visit.

Mrs. Gapaulsingh's 3rd grade class were just the most adoreable childen!! They stood up when we walked in and said "Good morning Miss" in the cutest most polite voices. We were very taken with them and just smiled at them for a minute. We then said hello to mrs. Gapaulsingh and asked where we could put the big bag of stuff we had. She had us put it right up on her desk. We told here how nice the class looked and how nice the children were and she said thank you.

As my sister and Nancy walked around the room looking at the children's things I began to tell her about some of the supplies we had brought for them when she softly interupted me and asked if it was ok if the children could sit back down?

"Oh my goodness, I had'nt realized in all of my excitement that they were waiting to sit!

Well the look on our faces must have been hilarious because after we realised that they were waiting on us we of course said yes and looked at each other like ooops , we felt silly and the children thought we were silly and started to laugh and then we laughed and then Mrs. G started laughing. It was a wonderful ice breaker for us all and it made the feeling in the room light and fun.

Mrs.G as I will fondly call her asked if we wanted to teach the children something or show them something and I was prepared for this!! My son and I went through his many many books and collected about 40 of them that he thought he would not miss. We then picked out 1 very special book that he really liked and thought the children would like to have read to them. So I started to go through the bag to get the books but I had to take out the small gifts first as they were on top. I asked mrs. G if it would be o.k. to hand out the children thier surprises first and she said said of course.

This was an experience in itself. I had brought a big bag that had all sorts of colorful hair scrunchies in all sizes, barrets, little rings and such and a bag of matchbox cars. I was handing out the cars and Nancy was handing out he girls things all was going well and orderly. I had handed out all the cars to the boys and gave the left overs to Mrs. G for here to give out when she wanted. I went to help Nancy because she was having a hard time finding matching pairs of hair things that a big circle was forming around her,. Nancy grabbed a big handful and handed me the bag and said "I'm not doing so good here" and back to sorting and handing out she went(by the way there were way more girls than boys [img]/forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif[/img] and they all wanted the matching green ponytail holders because it matched thier school uniforms, well we didnt have to many greens and things started gettintg hectic, the girls now in two big circles around us were all yelling "please miss" "please miss" and I was trying to hand them out as fast as I could. At this point I was not trying to match colors anymore I was just trying to fill each little hand up!! We finally ran out and everyone had gotten something, the children were still very excited and we were kinda feeling that we had exited a whirlwind

Mrs. G clapped her hands and in a voice that I didnt think the children heard she said "children have a seat please" and in just seconds everyone was back in thier seat and quiet!!

Wow I wish I could do that with my kids at home!!

We then started emptying the bag and I took out a gift we had brought for her. It was a little box of pampering, it had a candle, lotion,shower stuff,feet stuff you know stuff you tend to never get yourself. We had to laugh at first because Mrs. G thought we were giving her chalk, and we had to explain that it was a gift for "her" not the classroom, it was a funny moment and we all laughed.

I finally got to the books and retrieved the one I was to read to them. I walked to the front of the class where everyone cold see the book and began to tell them of how my son thought they would enjoy this book because it was one of his favorites. I went on.... "The name of the book is The Cow Who Would'nt Come Down, dDo any of you know of a cow that can fly? and so our story went, all of us had alot of fun with the story but it seemed to be over very fast.

I asked mrs. G if it was o.k. to take a picture if the class and she said yes so everyone put on thier best smile and we got a great shot of them.

Mrs. Brooks has told Sienna that we have permission to post the classroom picture so I though we weould share this with you.

We had finished up the story, the children really got a a good laugh from it. and knew that it was time to let Mrs. G get back to teaching her students. We sid goodbye to Mrs. G and thanked her for having us in her classroom today and we said goodbye to the children....oh by the way you know how I like those "blow pops" well we left 2 bags!! [img]/forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img] with Mrs. G to hand out at the end of the day, the kids were pumped!!!


We walked outside and found Soloman waived goodbye to everyone and we were on our way again. We were a little thirsty so we had Soloman stop so we could rehydrate ouselves again and since we were done at school a nice cold redstripe was in order!!

Soloman was telling us all about Little London because this was were he grew up and we were not to far from his house which were not to far from. Down went the redstripes and off we were agian. We wernt to far down the road actually I think you could have trown a stone and hit his property [img]/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img] and we pulled it Soloman Yard. We pulle dup to Soloman house, Sienna and Soloman had told us all much about it and it was nice to see. We were introduced to Solomans dad, who might I say is a very very good looking man and who is very much in shape! and we also were introduced to Solomans youngest(?) sister, who was very sweet. We were just hanging around talking playing with Sienna and Soloman's dog when Soloman dissapears for few minutes, only to return with four big greenish cocnuts and a very big knife well he chopped the tops right off those Jelly coconuts and took a big drink. We then each got our own and drank, it was very very good!! Soloman then showed us the actual Jelly part and we ate that too, how yummy!!

We stayed for a little while longer and then said our goodbye's. We all knew we had to go rest up if we were going to be in any kind of shape for Ladies night at the Jungle. Soloman said he also needed to get back home and take a nap. We said goodbye and said we would see him again tonight at 10:00

WOW! sounds like you guys really enjoyed your visit....love the photo of the kids....i hope to do this on one of my trips....thank you i thiefed this day from your report for future reference!

Great report! That's a large class, good thing they are so well behaved! I am so jealous that you got to visit Sala and Sienna's yard....

We did have a great time! Besides the books we took the advice from other board members and brought boxes of pencils and pens, lined paper and colored construction paper. and we also brought quite a few bottles of glue which we had in zip lock bags....Mrs G also liked the zip lock bags so I have made a mental note to bring more of those next time.

Thanks, yes it sure was a good size class and they were very well behaved!

It gave me a really nice feeling to think that Sala felt comfortable enough with us to bring us to his yard to meet his family, we had a very nice visit. That afternoon is my favorite memory of my visit to JA.

Hey Sammy, I am not sure wether it was Sala or Sienna who actually set it up but it was one of them.
