Re: Water that sets on fire!!
The gas is not volcanic is it's origin, since volcanic action is actually the hot molten innards of the earth that seeps out through a crack in the earth's crust.
If it comes in contact with volatile gasses as being exuded from the spring, there would be a enotnous explosion and the gasses would be burned off.
The temp would also be so high that water wound be in the form of steam.
In the case of Bath in St Thomas, the water actually is coming in contacr with hot underground rocks that heats it up to under boiling point but ofcourse there is no volatile gasses.
basically whay you have there is an opening to natural gas deposit, below the water,so it is not the water that produces the gas that the light. The water just runs over the opening where the gas is escaping.
If the water is diverted,it will be vert dangerous, because once lit,it will be difficult to extinguish.
This could also be a scam.
They could simply pipe gas in from a cylinder into the stream and open the valve, then light it and walla ....flames.
The water does not affect the has only the flame.
Then again it may be naturally uccuring.
About it being theraputic? I dont know of any health benefits to using water through which Natural gas has been saturated.
