The girls check into Skycastles…then we go up to the rooftop…with champagne. We are admiring the beautiful view…then we all EXHALE. We toast to new friendship…wonderful vibes…and finally being home. With tears in my eyes…I ask if it was too early to declare my love for each of them. Then we all hug and hold on for dear life…for sisterhood. We are so full of energy that we are moving from room to room…sit and talk…talk and dance…sit and drink and talk. We finally settle in Marilyn and Classy’s unit. We take a little catnap to get ready for the river (now beach party).

We arrive at the beach party…and the vibe is so cool. Junior leads us behind a building…away from the crowd. It was very dark behind this building…then you hear me and Marilyn exclaim…YUCK!!! My foot is stuck in the most awful smelling mud. I had to reach down and dig my sandal out. We immediately head toward the beach and ocean to wash this funky mess off of us. Both of us are pretty much disgusted thinking about what this “mud” really was. My evening was basically ruined because I would have the heebie jeebies for the rest of the night… [img]/forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif[/img] All of a sudden…Mr. M appears with a bucket of fresh water. Without words…he bends down and gently washes Marilyn’s feet…then dries them with paper towels…places her sandals back on…I am on the brink of jealousy and tears…until I feel him slide my sandal off…he does the same for me. In the most gentlemanly manner…he asks if we are okay now…do we need anything else. Well you could have knocked me over with a feather…I was completely in love…so happy for Marilyn…I told her…”I understand.” Marilyn has this demeanor of a southern belle…reminds me of Scarlet O’Hara. She has this cute little girly girl laugh…and she blushes and laughs that girly girl laugh.

Just when I thought he couldn’t get any better…he comes back with our drinks. I think he asked Marilyn in advance what we wanted…how she knew I don’t know. I wander off toward the beach…the ocean is calling me…telling me…scolding me that it has been too long. I don’t get to explain why I have been away too long because someone is always coming to check on me…to ask me to join them…to dance.

Although the vibes are great…the music is sparse because the Selecta enjoys hearing himself on the mic. [img]/forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img] We dance…then stand…all the while laughing and enjoying each other and the men surrounding us. Marilyn and Mr. M sneak away a few times…but she is too worried about us and our enjoyment to enjoy her own. She comes back to check on us often…to see if we are enjoying her recommendation for the evening. The breeze is wonderful…everybody enjoying their own little spot on the beach. Eventually Marilyn signals that it is time to call it a night. I joke that we have out partied the master…but I know her party was just beginning.

See that is why we need more persepctives on this, I completely forgot about the rooftop toast. I even remember saying it reminded me of the scene from "Waiting to Exhale" when the girls were on the beach New Year's Eve by the bon fire.

It was so SPECIAL!!!!!!!

Day 4 – Monday March 9, 2004

We are up bright and early for breakfast at Fisherman’s Beach. As we cross the street…I am on the lookout for the watering hole and the sights to behold. No such luck this morning. [img]/forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif[/img] Marilyn is greeted as though the queen has been away on a faraway trip…and has just returned. They love her…they engulf her. She is definitely home.

Introductions are made as the rest of us are under the microscope…you can tell that they are wondering if we too will fit in. Suddenly, I see him approaching…it’s my…oh no…it can’t be…not that dyam fine!!! My memory does not completely register that it is indeed him…only better…much…much better.

look at that smile…those shoulders! Four years ago…Lester was not a bundle of muscles…I remember lankiness and huge feet. I am truly touched that he remembered me…without photos as I have of him. He remembered our friendship… we briefly catch up…he announces that he has work and will see us later. Breakfast was delicious and will become a staple for most days. We wander around Fisherman’s Beach becoming acclimated with our new home…the community that so willingly welcomed us into the fold.

I don’t remember if Marilyn spotted Raheem…or if he spotted Auntie Maaareelyn first. Before we give him his gifts…we are bombarding him with requests to pose for the camera. He has this look on his face…like what is the big deal with these old ladies… [img]/forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]

Marilyn and Classy give Raheem his gifts…but lo and behold there is a baby sister. Ishell is quietly watching her brother rack up on the good stuff. She has this look on her face like I KNNNOWW I’m next. [img]/forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]

Raheem runs off with his new toys for a little solitude from the cameras. We are ooohing and ahhing at all the pretty men…errrr…babies…





Raheem comes running back to us…politely taps Marilyn on her shoulder…”Auntie Maareelyn…umm. Mi try fe…ummm…battree no fit!” dem nat work…his dad tells him that it does work. I tell him to bring them to Auntie Shirley…he looks at me with total disdain…he doesn’t believe I can make the battree work either. So, he brings the car…the batteries and the remote control over to me. Aha!! Battree no fit! We need a 9v battree…instead of the AA battree. We promise to come back today with the right battery. He almost looks like he wants us to sign in blood.

We head to downtown Ochi for a camera stop…Classy has filled her memory card to the brim…the camera is screaming at her…’No more room…pictra no fit!” Next stop….Digicel. While Marilyn prepares to do battle…we find a Mommy and Me shop…I am ooohing and ahhing at all the pretty little girl’s clothes. I have two boys…and I am scheduled for a hysterectomy very soon. I guess my clock was ticking again…because I lost my mind. The girls had to gently tell me to put some of the stuff back.

We walk out…Marilyn comes out of Digicel with no luck…so I tell her about my positive experience at another Digicel (the one right in front of Amnesia)…we are walking the streets of Ochi in single file with Marilyn leading the way…much like the mother duck and her ducklings…


is anybody reading this...this labor of LOVE!!!???

I don't have a picture of Ishell loaded yet...but that little girl stole my heart. I wanted to take her home with me...comb her hair...put her in little pink frilly dresses...etc. I was so heartbroken to know that mommy was still around. [img]/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif[/img] I even contemplated marrying her daddy so I could stake my claim on Ishell. Ishell stole my heart like Raheem stole Marilyn's.

I will always remember those pensive eyes...and the way she squealed like Classy about her new slippas. She is a natural shoe hog...it was soooo cute!
