Dr. Bones I was frantic. I even went to the desk to place my name on the list of passengers who will give up their seat if it is over booked. But it wasn't, in fact there were empty seats. I just cried. I was bumped twice when going to the Bahamas. Why or why couldn't it have happened to me in JAMAICA!! But ha...July is coming..right?!?!?

lol...I can remember the sun beating directly down on my head so it literally felt like my scalp was on fire. He was, on the other hand, was comfortable and getting into some deep conversation. He was getting closer each time he asked me to go out with him. I guess he thought that when I was silent, I was thinking about hangin with him. When in reality I was slipping in and out of consciousness from the heat. The worse thing that could have happened was for me to pass out on a sidewalk in MoBay. By the time the paramedics arrived with the forklift, I would have been a well baked ham minus the pineapple slices. [img]/forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif[/img]

oh PLJ (((sweets))) I understand. When I go back in July, I'm going to visit Wills. While I'm at the Sunset I plan to take pictures of EVERYTHING I missed. Especially those "BIG CHAIRS", and what about that fish pond outside the Chinese restaurant. Tower A and Tower B. Not to mention the 5 bars!!! [img]/forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]

Vi, I've tried so hard to read all of your report because I want to so badly, but everyday I am so tired I just sit that long. So, I have found the perfect time to do this. I will print it out when you are comletely done (let me know) and will take it on the airplane as reading material. I can never sleep and Mairlyn will not doubt be crying most of the way, so reading your report is just what the doctor ordered. See, you help me out in so many ways.

Stop...you're killing me. That koi pond was gorgeous wasn't it? And how they have that little wooden foot bridge..right in the lobby. The smells that would come out of that Chinese restaurant. And oh yeah..those couches were nice to plop on after a long day in the sun and a fresh shower. Oh Vi! The swim up bar..the romantic gazebo surrounded by flowers.. Oh and the cheeseburgers (I know..but the beef is wonderful) from the grill..Jamaican style with a little jerk on them with cheese..melt in your mowt! Laaaaawd Faaaada!

Angie, believe me I understand about being tired. I’m still laboring at the two jobs. Thank goodness one of them allows me to be on the computer all day. The other allows me to shut my brain off after 7PM. [img]/forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif[/img]

I’m flattered that you want to print it to read on the plane. It should be done by Friday afternoon. Posting has been so much fun that I hate to see it end.

So Marilyn cries on the way there and on the way back??? Poor baby. Yeh listen to me, I KNOW I’ll be ballin like a spanked child on the return flight. Too sad even think about.

Good Morning Miss Vi - Great story. How many times have you returned??

I had been twice before the crash of my marriage. The crash and burn happened, then it was August 2001, met my Bim on that trip. Returned November of 2001, January of 2002, June and August of 2002, February of 2003, January of 2004. Now we are building a house on his property in Negril ... so I don't have much money available for me to do airfare, accomodations, and food/entertainment for both me and my son, Matthew. He is 14 at the end of August, and his father will not ever take him to stay at his home so I can get away on my own. Bim's current home is a bit too rustic for Matthew to be comfortable ... the mosqitoes eat him alive. So, once the new house is done, we can stay there, rather than do the hotel thing. We usually stay at The Whistling Bird - they give me the best deal they can, but still $$$$.

Now at Breezes We stopped to load up our plates at the buffet. The food looked and smelled fantastic! We took our plates and found a table close to the pool. There was a nice crowd there, a lot of couples. The show started with two female dancers who wined like I’ve never seen before, then a limbo dancer who got closer to the floor than the thickness of a slice of bread. Out came “the queen” a heavily padded sistah who gyrated her way through the crowd pleasing and teasing. Lastly, out comes two guys who did some amazing things with flames of fire. They all performed well. I enjoyed my time with the girls. They are fun to be with. I liked our girl talk and how they cut-up some of the crazy tourist.

After the show, the girls dropped me off at the hotel. I made a beeline to my room to shower and change clothes. I don’t know where I would end up, but I had to get out. I thought about Careeb.

The time was 9:45 and I had 15 minutes to work up the nerve to call him. I sat on the bed thinking about last night. Was it a "good" encounter??? Not really.

It was an awakening for me and a learning experience, but not a “let’s get together again” thing. I know how I feel about him…I know he doesn’t feel the same. I didn’t call and to be honest, I don’t think he expects me to.

I caught a cab to the Coral Cliff. I got a ride with a rasta and his side kick. I was a little uneasy at first, but soon I realized they were not interested in me in the least. They spoke heavy patois the entire time I was in the car. Once we arrived to the spot, the driver turned to me and politely told me I owe $5US. I gave him six. I didn’t get him name, but yes lawd…he was absolutely gorgeous.

Jamaji is playing. The sound of pulsating reggae was just what I needed to hear. I settle into the perfect seat at the perfect table and ordered a perfect Red Stripe Draft. The band was singing “I can feel your love slip away”, I love that song!!!!!. Oh how I was ready for more, but my perfect moment was cut short when the band took their break.

Tonight’s local performer “The Reggae Cowboy”!?!?!?! I almost ran screaming from the room, as I am not a fan of country/western music. I respect it, but I am not a fan.

He arrives with his ten-gallon hat and guitar in hand. He started with “Hey..have you happen to see the most beautiful girl in the world?” I wanted to cry. I couldn’t drink my red Stripe fast enough praying for the alcohol to kick in and numb my eardrums.

Okay..Okay..I can do this, I said to myself. I will sit throughout this and give him the support he deserves. It was hard, not because he didn’t sing well. Oh he had a great voice, it was the CW tunes with a reggae splash that almost drove me insane. I guess this is what I get for eluding Reggae Elvis back at the Sunset.

After about 10 songs I was just about to break the 3rd empty Red Stripe bottle and use the broken glass to slit my wrist. When...Oh Happy Day! The band is returning!!!

I ordered another Red Stripe and sat happily at my little table ready to enjoy the music and regain my mental stability. They opened with a song by Sanchez. I could listen to this band anytime. They are so good. I was flowing in my own zone when out of nowhere comes this 7ft tall individual who takes it upon himself to sit with me. I’ve got to get rid of him, as I really need to be alone right now. I didn’t want any company tonight. He didn’t know that so I realized I had to be polite. You see there are times with a girl just needs her private moments, even when the immediate vicinity is not so private.

He took a seat but didn’t say a word. Okay, maybe he just needed to sit while he scopes out the prospects. The band played and I got back into them. Then he spoke. Urrgh! He told me his name is George and that he was a party animal.

Was that supposed to impress me? Ummm, excuse me..hellooooooo, but the use of the word “animal” to describe your partying style to a woman over 35, is not a good social move. I was turned off and just wanted him to leave. I should have told him that I wanted to be alone, but I just blew him off every chance I got. Finally he got the hint and made his way over to the table next to me where 4 American girls sat. I was glad he was gone, but I was ashamed of the way I handled it. If someone else approaches me, I will be more mature about letting them know I would rather be alone. After long, tall George left, I ordered another Red Stripe…wow my 5th! I should be closed to plastered by now but these distractions are blowing my buzz and I have to start all over (smile).

Well I got back into the band and in my zone again, but not for long. Along comes another smooth talker seeking to find a listening ear and willing body. His name is Sherman. Get this, he’s 22 and, of course, half.. uh, no make that a third of my body size. Sherman is a marathon talker. I just had to get him away from me because no doubt his goal tonight was to talk me into an early grave.

He asked me to be his “friend”. I DON”T THINK SO!!! I was trying to be polite and mature, I really was, but it wasn’t working and I was running out of patience. He kept insisting that we would be great together and he can make me happier than a plate of chicken and fries. Is that romantic or WHAT?!?!?

I humored him a little until he told me that he may be small, but he knows how to please “big” women and he never gets complaints. THEN he reaches under the table and rubs my thigh!! THAT DID IT!!! That creeped me out so bad I almost threw up. I told him to move on or I was going to call security. Without hesitation, he disappeared into the crowd.

Finally I was able to enjoy the rest of the band’s performance in peace and it was excellent. 2:00am, time to head back to the Glorianna. I left a hearty tip for the waitress and staggered to the exit.

I hailed my own driver and I was proud of this. The cab ride back to the hotel was very pleasant.

The driver, Barry, was really nice and the cab was new. We chatted for the entire 6 minute ride to the Glorianna. I wish I knew him when I first arrived to give him some business. He told me about some local party spots I would have enjoyed visiting. He was such a sweetheart. I told him that I will contact him when I return to Montego Bay. He said he would gladly show me around and give me a good price. He also said that if he wasn’t available, he would recommend another trustworthy driver and make sure I was in safe hands. I liked that. I thought about giving him $20US and asking him to drive me around for a few minutes more, but I didn’t. I regret it now. Next visit, I will hire a driver for late night cruising. Jamaica is so beautiful at night.

I walked into the lobby and head to my room when one of the attendants stopped me.

“Excuse please. Vi??”

“Yes.”

“A driver came by to pick you up around 10:15. He said you have de numba.”

(Okay reedas, I know this isn't going to go over very well with some of you --Marilyn! , but at lease I'm not leaving you hanging like I was tempted to do....)


I went to my room, mixed a drink, took a sip and reached for my camera bag. I took out his number...

I didn’t call.

I'm just shouting out at you because I can't get to read this until I get back to my office next week. Maybe I can catch up this weekend.

I only started cryng when we got over that first piece of land on approach to Sangster, and to this day, I don't know why....the tears just started to roll. Man I love that place.
