Thank you so much for letting us get a glimpse of your experience in JA. All of these wonderful reports is making August ( [img]/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif[/img] )seem closer. And I'm totally feeling you on your return to the states. I visted family in the Carribean for a month and came back to the states and Bob Marley's Concrete Jungle kept playing over and over in my head. I missed the freedom and acceptance. I missed not being a minority. I missed the connection to the earth. Oh well, August soon come [img]/forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]

I am Blessed to Be, the Mom of the two beautiful young ladies you have been communicating with as they have taken you on one of their many journies to womanhood. I too, have been entranced with the posting of reports as well as the responses received.

Their father and I are so very proud of them. These simple words don't lend justice to my intent to express these feelings. However, they'll have to do for now. Their beauty is not only external, but internal as well. They take such good care of each other and are as much best friends as sisters. We are thankful for that. We encourage them to be responsible, yet spontaneous. We have taken them on many adventures, but none could ever compare to venturing out on your own. They have shown that they are up to the challenge and I applaud them for that.

We too, love Jamaica and have been on several occasions. As many of you, I don't need to comment on my feelings as they have been conveyed in my daughter's report.

Know this - The Creator is GOOD and as you have seen, I have proof!

Napi-- I am too jealous!!! I really enjoyed reading your trip report. I reminded me of my first trip to Jamaica when I was about your age, ten years ago. It brought back many fond memories of Montego Bay and all of it's flavors, sounds, and color.

I just went to Jamaica six weeks ago and I am speaking as if I have'nt been there in decades! This all a part of falling in love with Jamaica's beauty and culture.

As much as I like to cooperate - I must pass on this request. If we begin Importing our favorite Jamaicans, I think we might take a chance on tarnishing the luster that makes Jamaicans so very unique in the melting pot of people that make up the huge, and at the same time the very small world we live in today.

On the other hand - I wish it could be easier for a Jamaican to obtain the required traveling papers in order for someone to visit the states if one chose to. Not every Jamaican wants to leave their country - but it would be nice if it was as easy for them to travel and visit - and I would love for my favorite Jamaican and his daughter to experience a Minnesota winter / Christmas. I am in favor of everyone being able to experience the Treasures and all the gifts Jamaica has to offer.

Mrs. Blessed - how blessed you are with the gift of the these two lovely young woman. I was near the same age as they are when I first discovered my overwhelming love for the Island and the People of Jamaica. There is no place on earth that can hold a candle. My son is only 13 and has had the opportunity to travel extensively to England, through out the States, but the most important influences in his tender years that will help shape and grow him into a man of integrity have come from Jamaica.

On the way back to the hotel, Justin said he had to make a quick stop for some refreshment. I knew what that meant. We ended up spending an hour at a bodega sitting with him while he enjoyed some ‘herbal relaxation’. Eventually, we caught a cab back to Breezes.

I think that the best report is the one that describes ones first encounter with Jamaica. Getting into the groove or out of the groove of rushing, hurrying, hurry up and wait, move out my way, type of conditioning we are so used to.

As you say, you were and are at a point in your life that you are trying to find YOU and what makes YOU who you are. I have visited Jamaica and returned each time to make a change in myself, who I spend my time with, how I spend my life, work and love. It is amazing and I thank the Creator for giving me the gift of Jamaica.

I recently experienced another world for the first time and hopefully will be able to muster up a trip report soon. But for now...I enjoy the 'afterglow' of yours. THANKS!!

Thanks to everyone who encouraged me to write a report and to those who read it! Thanks especially to Mama! I can't wait for my next trip. You know I'll have a new report, new pictures and new candidates for the Import a Jamaican Fund.
