Napi--girl, this report was great!! I know, I know, I'm late, but I just got to finish it. You had me from get, just 'cause you stated that you were a "broke grad student." I feel your pain, cause I'm also a part of the struggle/hazing they call "academia." I know how much you probably had to sacrifice financially to make that trip to JA. Actually, I should've known you were a grad student when you did that critical analysis of the dancing rasta elephant peanut butter commercial. That had "grad student" written all over it (SMILE!!)

Anyway, your poetic words touched my heart. My first trip to JA was last year and no one (including myself) has been able to describe what I felt there, until now. Thank you so much.

Now, let's get to thinking about how we're going to get you to sneak out of the States and join us in July. Girl, there's gotta be a way. Don't they teach you about grant-writing at that school of yours. Sista, use your skills!! I'm sure we can come up with a way...

I'm already considering using student loan refund money for a plane ticket (being that Orbra won't pack me in her luggage). I hope nobody reading this reports me to the government! You'll have to hip me to the fine art of grant writing, but until George W. (Ptuey, I spit on his name) decides that hard-working people deserve a free education, I'll be here scrappin' and scrimpin'. Have fun, though! I'm bringing my daughter to Negril...she will turn 18 on July 3. There is another future diva in the mix. I appeal to all the girlfriends for some extra eyeballs while she is up in the clubs. She has been thoroughly schooled in the runnings and knows she is not to be out of my sight, but just in case....

I spent 3 1/2 months in Negril off that same kinda money! I'm paying for it now, but it was WELL worth it... Loved your report!
