As for Sheffield I found it to be very charming. But....imagine my shock when I was up there taking the picture of the church three young men walked by and way out there in the country in this pastorial setting as I was taking CHURCH pictures one of them yesll to me "I wanna lick you_____."

I turned and replied "How do you know it's any good?"

They laughed among themselves and did not come back with a retort. I even thought I saw a little respect as in I didn't think that old lady would come back with something like that.

But all in all it was a real cool evening, and totally unexpected as my last day in Negril. I had kinda pictured a meloncholy me watching that last mournful sunset.

You hug your new one tight and plunge headlong into whatever the future holds.

PLV- Thank you for dropping by and reading. I bet I've walked that strip more than you have. The cab drivers now know that to even ask. I know every crack in the concrete and where to step up and where to step down.

I didn't notice Turtle Beach Towers In the table until I posted it, and then I said wow that's neat.

Thank you for being there for me that day. Hopefully I now have that situation under control and we won't have a repeat of that day. I never had them that often anyway, maybe once every 4 months, but like other things that we don't want in Jamaica, that one found me that day.
Holding on to your hand that day and you near me helped me make it through. You do that for me anyway, even when I am ok. You hold my hand and help me make it through.

Nappi- Steal away. That you love churches so says alot about your character. Yall she wanted to snap every church in Jamaica, and there are a lot of them. Nappi if you ever get to journey around the island you will be stopping a lot, as there are some gorgeous old churches out there.

From what I understand there are more churches than schools in Jamaica.

Thank you for checking in. Nappi really has a thing for chruches, and really so do I too, because the old stone structure ones in Jamaica and gorgeous in their own right.

Thank you on the girlriend tip because people I met this time around are real keepers.

Marilyn, being still with you in that moment helped me as well. I know that the transference of energy does work. I wanted to transfer just an ounce of my peace and joy to you that day and although I have no idea if it worked, the interruption of that peace when you started crying returned when you spotted that beautiful chest of drawers and started ooohhhing and awwwwing. Nothing like a little interior decorating to bring a girl out of a funk. You remember when we asked Harry who was doing this decorating and he said it was him and the Rastas? Who would have known that men had such a sensitive side to create a space so lush and personal and fabulous. From the ceiling fan that took my breath away to the little satin rosettes at the end of the mosquito net all around the permimeter of it touching the floor. Men picked this????? Gee

As always I am honored whenever you drop in to see me and give your opinion, as YOUR opinion is one of the many on this board that matters to me most.

Yes, you do learn something everytime. I by no means am trying to portray myself as some kind of expert on Jamaican society. It is just that I do listen to the opinions of those I come in contact with and observe nuances, like at the Tgiving dinner. I am aware that the things that one Jamaican may tell me does not speak for ALL Jamaicans on any issue, still I find these tidbits interesting to report as they are related to me.

Learning something everytime is the point of travel. There was a time, once upon a time, but no more, When Memphis City School teachers could write their travel experiences up and get in-school credit for it. If you could write it up well enough, you could even go during school time and get a sub and not loose any days, but no more.

You know that old expression, travel is broadening? Well it is, and never ever do I go to Jamaica and don't come back with something new.

I can't wait until the next time. Who knows what it holds.

My best days are like the day that I told Stuart, go right up the hill, what's up there. Man what a magical place.

Marilyn, I hear you on learning something difference on every trip. When you first journey to Jamaica you have the romantic view on everyone and everything. Then as you go more, you learn details about everything and the rose colored glasses comes off and you become less enchanted. Then you continue to go and you find your place in the middle of all this knowledge and you start making decisions based on that.

The class system there does wear on me because it is more pronounced in my opinion. However, you must find your balance in between what you know is right and what the country dictates as the acceptable form of behavior. Perhaps the price of being true to youself and not the system is too high for some, but for others, its a small price to pay. Most men that I admire have always bucked the system because its rarely there to elevate, but to keep down in some form.

I'm excited too about our next journey wherever that might be. I wonder what we will discover this time.....just think of the possibilities!!

You know Marilyn that is pretty funny. As many times that I haved walked that strip at least once a trip I trip on the sidewalk in the exact same spot. It is apart of my Jamaica experience now. Thanks again for sharing your trip.

PLV Ochii sidewalks are treacherous. You know where you get down past the clock tower those curbs get real high, you gotta be careful. My worst nightmare is walking along, and you know people are watching, and falling flat on my face. LOL
