Disclaimer: I will attempt to post a trip report. I will not have things to post for everyday of my trip.

Day 1 – Wed. Sept. 29
Got up at 2am to go the airport. Limousine arrives at 3:15am. Arrived at the airport at 4am. Air Jamaica was schedule to fly out of O’Hare at 6:15am. On time (Thank God).
Everything was going smoothly on the plane until a lady sitting behind me kept sliding down in her seat to where her knees were poking me in the back of my butt in my seat. I took my hand and slid it behind my butt and hit her knees. I could have slapped her.
Arrived at Mobay. Power went out. I didn’t hear the singers. Luggage conveyor belt was not working. Luggage had to put out by hand. After a while, luggage conveyor started working.
Patrick from Esperanza Tours was there to meet us. On time as usual. He is a great person. He is by nature a quiet person. Ride to Negril was uneventful. I was shocked to see a lot of the lovely trees were gone because of Ivan. The spirituality of Jamaica has not gone. I love this country more than ever. Exchanged money at Hi-Lo and shopped. Store was crowded because children were on their lunch hour.
Arrived at NBCC around noon. I was happy to see Jean and Doreen. I love those two wonderful women. Checked in and unpacked. Showered and changed clothes. Mind you, I am running on 2 hours of sleep. I was unable to sleep Tuesday night before the trip.
Around 5pm, Michelle and I went to Norm’s for dinner. We wanted to go someplace close. As usual, the food was good. It is now 6:30pm Wednesday night. I am happy to be HOME. Right now I am sooooo sleepy. Also, the darn cable is not working. Doreen called the cable company and she was told NBCC is on the list. I told her “soon come”.
6:30pm, no cable. I am reading and listening to my old school music. The tree frogs are singing “Ros, you will be sleeping by our tunes tonight”.
8:17pm, Listening to the Four Tops Anthology “MacArthur Park”. The words are deep. I am thinking about old loves in my life. Trying to stay awake because if I go asleep before 9pm, I will wake up too early.
8:22pm, Now listening to Phyllis Hyman. She was a talented singer who left this world too soon. If I listen to Phyllis too long, I will be up too late. Someone is probably reading this report and thinking what does Phyllis Hyman have to do with Jamaica.
Well for me personally, Phyllis Hyman’s songs are very spiritual for me as an African-American woman. Also for me, Jamaica is very spiritual for me. Phyllis’s songs make me think about my life and where I have been. Jamaica makes me think about my life in the present and where I am going in the future.
I am glad that the cable is off tonight because I am thinking about my life very hard. Being away from Chicago, no noise, no sirens, no loud music sounding from cars. No phone ringing and door bell ringing.
Just me, Phyllis Hyman and the tree frogs tonight. Good night.
