Re: Jamaica 2005
You guys are good for my photographic ego (haha)…
Day 4 – Day 4 was going to be a long day. I’ve been to Negril a few times but never actually stayed overnight so I’d decided to spend the rest of our time there – just chilling out on the beach. From Strawberry Hill, back through Kingston, then on to Spanish Town, Old Harbor, May Pen, Mandeville and many points in between – it would prove to be about a 4-5 hour drive (probably longer as we squeezed in few stops along the way). I enjoyed the long drive (although I think Ellen could have done without my adventurous overtaking – especially after reading all the ‘Undertakers Love Overtakers’ signs) and we stopped only briefly outside Mandeville to have some Juci Patties for lunch before heading on to our first real stop at YS Falls.

YS is one of those places I’d always heard about but never actually visited so it was nice to finally see that it lived up to it’s hype. It was also nice to see that it wasn’t overrun with tourists like Dunns River usually is.

We also passed through and made a brief stop in Bluefields where I got this ocean scene and a shot of some nice, fresh ackee.

I had planned to make a stop in Black River but had spent too much time at YS so we went on to Negril (planning to come back to Black River later) where we checked into the Beachcomber, a fairly standard beach hotel right in the middle of the 7-Mile stretch of beach.

It was late evening when we finally got to Negril so as always, I’ll end the day with another picture perfect sunset – of course, what else would you expect from Negril.

Day 5 is coming soon….
