I just wear mi flip flops!! No matter what time of year .... there I am trudging thru the snow bank to the cab in mi bear toes!! Never bother with a jacket or coat either ..... I am already on Jamaica time - (never mind the fact that I am always hot hot hot with that over 40 sumthin heat!!) [img]/forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]

Shug,
A while back, your report was one of the first, that I read on the board. Along with Vi's and Marilyn's, and many other 's. I was hooked instantly.

I couldn't wait for you to take another trip, so i could read another great report. Now here it is..... I am like a kid in a candy store. Don't know what to do with myself.
Can't wait to read the rest of your report.

Where’s The Beach
I am enjoying the ride to Negril. Barry is really soft spoken. I have to listen really intently to hear what he is saying. I look at the back of the van and Tonya has her head down and is asleep. Stacy isn’t quite there yet, but is on the way to sleep. Me and Barry talk about life, the decision our parents make and how that affects our lives. He tells me about how he used to live his life and the changes he has made. I asked he what made him change and he said God. We started talking about relationships. He told me that he would like to get married in a year and that he is seeing someone. I asked is it the woman who made him that delicious food that he ate for lunch. He smiled and said yes. It was a nice conversation. Very soon we are pulling up in front of NBCC. I thought that we were at the wrong place because it said Mariners on the front. I go up to the reception desk and they are expecting me. A young man comes out with our keys and let us into the room. My first impression is that it is nice. I get to pick which room I want. I pick my room because I like the color of the bedspread. I ended up with the room with a TV and a door which lead to the courtyard (glad it had a pretty bed spread..LOL).

After we drop off our bags and use the bathroom we pile back into the van. Barry takes us to the Hi-Lo. When we get up to the Hi-Lo there is a man sitting on the car next to our parking space. He doesn’t scoot out of the way so I kinda have to brush past him (I think he did it on purpose). We get inside and start talking options. I also start to notice the men. One of the reasons that I love the Caribbean (other than the wonderful people, beautiful scenery, connectedness to the earth, wonderful food, etc.) is the men. The appreciation!!!! They could teach a thing or two to these men in the States (ain’t hating on my US brothers-love ya’ll too). I’m noticing the looks-and I like it. We go around and pick up our supplies. I tell the ladies that we should buy as many things that are from JA as possible to get the best prices. It’s so funny, every time we need some advice, we look up and there is a store employee standing next to us willing to answer our question. When we get over to the liquor I tell them that we have to get the Coconut rum. I bought some at duty free last year and loved to have some with pineapple juice or orange banana juice. We get soy milk, bun(I love bun in the morning), chips, water, fruit juices, soda, Stripes and ice. We check out and I make cutsey eyes with the cute bag boy. When I get outside the man sitting on the car tells me I am so young. I say how old am I. He said maybe 21. I said no 26. He told me I’m lying-he could tell. Ok whatever. Tonya and Stacy try to use the ATM by the Hi-Lo, but it isn’t working. Barry takes us over to Scotia and then it’s back to NBCC. Barry helps us with all the groceries and we tell him to chill out, make himself comfortable. We make some drinks, pass out some Stripes and talk. His brother David calls on the phone and said that he was coming over. He came in all smiles and shook all our hands. He apologized for not picking us up and explained the situation. We are all in the Jamaica vibe-no problems.

He hangs out for a while and leaves. Later Barry leaves after we all give him a hug goodbye. We rented a cell from Solomon. He programs his number into the cell and tells us to call him. He thought we were all nice. After he leaves we just put our feet up and chill out. We reflect on the day. We’ve already had a great lunch that only cost us about $7.00 each for four people including the tip. The girls love the orange pineapple juice and the coconut rum. We all think that Barry is the sweetest, he treated us like we were his little sisters, and wonder if David is a player.

After a while I say that we need to go outside. The sun is going down and we haven’t even seen the beach. It was so nice outside. We just ran around and took pictures.
