The photos in the garden, especially with the oranges are just beautiful, and reminds of why I love JA so much. What can beat waking up in the morning and walking outside and picking your own orange??? BB/Red, lovely start to the report as always and as much as I loved the pictures of the flowers etc, BB holding the basin of soup was my favourite [img]/forums/images/graemlins/704555_dwl.gif[/img]. I could truly do with some JA soup right now (just doesn't taste the same over this side).

We spend Christmas Eve in Kingston and after a short nap for each of us, we decide to have a night out on the town. [img]/forums/images/graemlins/70371-jump.gif[/img] We start at the Hilton in Kingston where a friend of mine works and we end up at Carlos Cafe. It was a nice quiet, laid back, sitting outside in the warm air drinking, kind of evening. Neither Red or myself were up for anything more than that. We were both exhausted. It seems we hadn't gotten caught up yet from the 2 a.m. wake-up. [img]/forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif[/img]

We are home by early morning and climb into bed. There is a house next door having a party, the music is blaring, the bass is pumping, and I am getting annoyed. I was exhausted and wanted to sleep. [img]/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif[/img] I was unable to block out the noise. The bass was pumping so loud it was as though it became my heart beat. [img]/forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif[/img] The party wasn't listening to some nice roots reggae, lol. They were listening to some crazy techno dance music. The bass was going to make my heart explode I just knew it. Going from quiet, quiet, quiet Mandeville to this in less than a day, was too much for me. Red fell asleep quickly and I laid in bed for hours trying my best to fall asleep.

Christmas Day -- Sunday

Once I fell asleep it was only a few hours later we wake up to the smell of Saltfish fritters being prepared. Red hops out of bed and runs around the house wishing everyone a Merry Christmas. I am not so quick to get out of bed and lay there with my eyes closed, hoping to fall back asleep. Nope, not gonna happen. Red's sister comes into the room and lays on top of me, thanks me for her Christmas present (which she had opened at midnught while Red and I were out) and tells me to get mi ra** out a bed. Ok, fine, I can't fight that. I get up and I am so glad that I did. The Saltfish fritters were so good and hot. If I had waited I don't think they would have tasted so nice. [img]/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img]

After breakfast we shower and get ready to head back out on the road. It is Christmas day, and I am not about to miss the Christmas walkers in St. Elizabeth. This also happens to be where Red's grandparents live, so of course we were going there to see them, the Christmas Walkers were simply an added bonus. After what seems like a lifetime in the car. We are in St. Elizabeth at Red's Grandfathers farm.

This is how you know you are in St. Elizabeth

I walk around the farm for hours, snapping pictures. I am my happiest when I am here. [img]/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img] It never fails. [img]/forums/images/graemlins/70409-waytogo.gif[/img] As soon as we get to his grandfathers house, I relax and cool out. [img]/forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif[/img] It is so quiet and peaceful. There is a lovely breeze and the air is sweet from all of the plants and flowers around. I love it here. [img]/forums/images/graemlins/70377-loveeyes.gif[/img] I love his grandfather and his wife. We aren't there more than 3 minutes before Christmas cake, sorrell, curry goat, potato salad, and rice is in front of us. You can't ask for anything more than that!

We are there for about an hour, when all of a sudden I hear a whistle blowing. I know the Christmas walkers aren't far! I get a new memory card out and ready for the camera. I knew I wanted to video tape this portion of the trip!

I can't make it to Jamaica this year so thank you for taking us along with you on your visit.

When I was a youngster I had a great aunt who lived in Mandeville. A lovely lady who was never married or had kids. Her passion was horticulture and her property always looked like a well manicured Garden of Eden. Funny how those memories, when triggered by something such as this report, can come flooding back just like they happened yesterday.

I am glad that so many of you are reading the report and enjoying it. I want to respond to each one of you individually, but during the work week I just don't have the time. We aren't allowed personal time on the internet. [img]/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif[/img]

I am writing this thing as I go. So during the week I sit at my desk looking like I am typing one hell-a-long e-mail. Then I copy and paste it real quick on the BB while no one is around.

It is Saturday now, and I am taking the time to re-read all of the comments. You guys really know how top make someone feel good.
