So here is not exactly another trip report.
This show took place just about after spring break wound down...Easter Monday. It was produced partially as a benefit for the Negril Football Club, which was in need of some budgetary assistance- but that was on the unofficial tip, but worth mentioning. The Negril Football Club can be become an important tool for the local community. I hate the word charity, unless it is in the catholic sense, and prefer the word investment which is really more of what I think people should mean to do. Anyway, the club did really well this year, and hopefully some future shows will come off so that more can be done- the field needs some serious landscaping, some seating so that the community can more fully represent and come out, some trash receptacles are badly needed, cleanup crews organized and maintained, and what I really would like to see is a kind of midnight basketball thing but using football. I can easily see the team getting the community behind it in a huge way and even draw heavy crowds, have a nice place to match against other teams...the whole nine yards.

the club from early on...buses start to pull up, the lines are well formed and everyone cool...
So here are the DJs warming up the crowd, Rusty and Gemini. Gemini also spins for Black Kat, so you might see him at some of the clashes round about the parts, sometimes Rusty and Gemini will also play out- used to see them throw down at Happy Mondays from time to time.

People start to gather to the front as Rusty and Gemini work things up. One thing that was important to this show was that it was run in a somewhat timely fashion- in other words it was not going to be 6AM before Beenie took the stage. Nobody wanted any kind of drama at the show, just something nice with the right vibes, so security was well in place, regular staff augmented with police of all kinds, some problems had to be worked out so their presence was a boon. Over 2 weeks of promotion went into the show and a lot of ground work has to be put in to overcome the endless reams of fuggery- signs getting pulled down, some fool across the way bringing up ish, flyer scams, etc. But the work paid off.

Soon it was time to bring out the prelims. Several warm ups were brought in. Beenie is a huge artist. A lot of people don't realize how big he really is. So it was a good opportunity to spread the shine for some of the local performers- a crew of dancers were brought up to do their thing.
