So it is just about time. Everyone feels it too. Good thing, because the gates were just now easing up. The place was packed- this was the biggest night outside of Spring Break ever held at the Jungle. Normally the shows would take place on the upstairs deck, but because of the volume, this was held in the car park. A few weeks back there was a big soca show and it worked good so rather than do it up top, they figured that people from the deck could see as well as people on the ground. The sound was nice because it was chambered by jungle and the Jungle, lol...

Even though this was clearly not your typical show, still a lot of people thought Beenie was notgoing to hit stage until well into the early morning.

so Rusty wanted to really hype them up.



Starts calling out. Who Wants Beenie Man?

and the Doctor arrives. How he got through the pack I have no idea. His feet were never on the ground there were so many hands on him. To tell the truth, I think he weighs about 110. He is MAWGA like terrible, hence his stage name. The other funny thing is that a few people were sort of cutting on him, but they were all there, and when he hit the stage it was pure enjoyment of the vibe, suddenly everyone went rasta on him.

I guess he is well used to the fuss and furor and people just wanting to pull him to them because he didn't look any way about it at all and just kept air walking, moving his feet until they touched something solid.

Now the place really just erupts, calms down, and erupts. One thing I will say, his fans really love him, and he really loves his fans. He calls out to a few people he knows, like Cuba, and a couple of other guys.

Even the NTV girl forgot herself for a few moments and just stood there.



It was like everyone wanted to make sure they had a record of this. Pure phone cameras raise up and videophones too, lol...



You could hear people yelling or calling up other people and trying to yell through the noise that Beenie was there. I guess some people never believed he would show as there were some rumours that he had shows in the Kingston area. He did, and at Ochi. But he drove like a bat out of hell to get to Negril by the 1AM show time! He was a little hoarse but his voice smoothed out once he started talking.



This lady in the white I think was his biggest fan that night. She really just couldn't believe.

Glad you are enjoying it.

The nice thing about Beenie is he can chat and converse with the crowd, connect in a way that everyone thinks he is like, sitting down and having a beer with you. He had some pretty funny ish to say too, and the other thing is, I mean sure there is all this controversy and what not, and he bowed/didn't bow, but you know what- the distinct impression I got from him was BFD...let me just perform and who honestly cares, who wants to sit there and analyze every damn thing from my mouth and why I have to watch every little damn thing I say and to who I say it...so one thing what I liked about his performance is he didn't feel it necessary to wind up his songs after 20 seconds to spit off about chi chi this or chi chi that. And at the time I was glad too for that because in my head I was getting cross culturally confused, because my mexican gong fu brother was teaching a couple of us some slang, and chi-chi in mexico means boobies. He was telling the story because in Shaolin we always urge each other to go all out by yelling MORE CHI, and sometimes the abbot will yell it quick and basically stick another emphatic CHI so he'll basically say, MORE CHI! CHIIIIII!!! and of course he loves to try and speak spanish now so he would yell MAS CHI!!!! CHI!!!!! and all the mexican students would start to laugh...So I kept getting wires crossed everytime someone would say chi-chi instead of homo I got boobies.

Well my man also had a surprise guest with him, which it would turn out would crush some of the ladies present...a while ago Beenie got robbed, all his bling got taken...but he didn't seem to let that stop him, got right back on the horse.

Like I mentioned, Beenie came and he hit a few spots along the way. It's Easter Weekend, and he was in Trinidad on Friday, and from the time he got back into Jamaica he had shows lined up. Now, he started running through his set, most artists these days perform off what are known as "tracks." Basically the instrumentals of the songs, the riddims etc.

A lot will also work with bands and that was an option for this show, but to keep the costs down on the production end, which trust me can add up well nice and quickly too, it was to be tracks.

Now, it quickly became apparent that everyone knew every word to every song. I mean that literally. You could hear Beenie sing, but you could also hear the crowd. It was weird, in a way, and he got a big kick out of it and would sometimes drop the mic down to let the crowd take it.



And of course being that it is Beenie, styles got rocked.



The stage behind Beenie kept getting crowded up. Also in attendance were some of the girls who were in the Miss Hotel Entertainment Coordinator pageant. They took up position behind Beenie and were just waiting to Dutty Wine, you could feel Dutty Wine in the air, lol...

So Beenie announced to much heartbreak all the stuff about him and Angel- Bounty's former- and a lot of girls were not having it, lol...

And the careful observer soon noticed a particular person who was on the stage...



That's right, the object of Beenie's affection was there in person- and she took up the mic and tore through a couple of songs, which seemed to win a lot of people over, even if some of the women did so grudgingly, lol...





Even the Ent.Coordinator models gave it up.


Beenie moved over to the DJ, and he decides homeboy is not managing the levels just so, and he gives him a visual dress down, lol...



which gives the ent.co ladies some space to move into the limelight...



When Angel went back off to side stage, it almost seemed to greenlight some of the girls to take up a little more prominent position on the stage....and like I said, you could start to see little hints of Dutty Wine sneak out, but nothing full blown yet!

Just foreshadowing, lol...

So for a couple of songs, Beenie and Angel rocked the stage together. Angel was basically all aglow and with a bun in the oven- and really she did a number at winning over all the jealous females. The way people went on when Beenie first came out and her name started dropping, you would think Angel personally robbed them of their chance to land Beenie for themselves...you might be able to pick out some other familiar faces in some of these shots because many of the Dr.O/Angie/Hiphop connection were in attendance...
