Re: The Girlfriend Tour 2007
Thanks partner for getting this started. Well let me see if I can fill in the spaces a bit.
1st night: Evita's and Oceans 11. Yep, one of the ladies turned it out. I am without a doubt convinced that she would have won had the rain not started. We had to leave and decided to go to a late night spot and have drinks. Needless to say, we all had a blast and returned to the hotel a little after 3am
2nd Night: We took a bit of time to stop and smell the ocean. By the time I made it to the beach, several ladies had taken a swim already. The day was spent watching people and swimming. My suite mate and I took a walk into town and almost died from the heat. Later that night we had reservations at Tropical Vibes at Fisherman Beach. The ladies enjoyed their visit to this interesting village and I got a chance to see some very dear friends that I have not seen in a long time. We returned to the hotel to hurry and change for Marga'ville.
Somewhere late into the night, after waaaayyyy too many rum on ice and anything else we could imagine to get down before 1am when you have to start paying for drinks, I hear this moaning and groaning over the loud speaker. Yep, our singer from Oceans 11 entered the Marga"ville contest and needless to say, she won. I think I sceamed so much that my throat hurt the rest of the night. It was a full time job keeping up with everyone, making sure everyone had exactly what they needed. Making sure no one felt left out and most of all, making sure everyone was safe. Baby B proved to be as helpful and I prayed she would be and kept me smiling and upbeat even when my feet ached and my eyes kept closing. We returned to the hotel close to 4am.
Day 3: Up bright and early and going to see Bob. The drive was beautiful as always. Some ladies took a much needed nap but just when we thought we could sleep away the time the van came to a stop. A car and a truck was in a stand off on who would move over so the other would pass. After 10 minutes of us sitting there, our driver got out to asked the drivers to move. Well, the van decided to give way to the truck and he hit the side. On one side it was a straight drop off the cliff. They were stuck! The tourist you see in the pictures above walking beside the car actually got out, really jumped out afraid that they would tumble over the side with the van. 20 mintues later, all was well and we moved on to Bob's place.
The girls enjoyed their visit with Bob and the tour afterwards to see some of the tropical vegatation. I encouraged each to rest up because this night was Amnesia.
Amnesia was HOT! Ok, I'm 52 and everywhere is HOT! I just wanted to dump ice water over my head and be done with it. Again, Baby B proved to be more vauable than her weight in gold. She danced the night away with the ladies when my feet yelled to give them a break. Just when I thought I could take no more, I hear that familiar voice over the loud speaker and yes...again it is our diva on stage. This time she won the wine contest hands down. Returned to the hotel at 2:30 with some ladies and left the rest in the capable hands of B and Mr. Bailey. They retunred around 4am.
Ok, the tour started to blur at this point and I do know that we did a walking tour of Ochi that felt like a walking tour in an oven. I enjoyed showing the ladies Ochi and we shopped until we dropped. Some of the other ladies struck out on their on and shopped as well. By this time, we had the ladies so relaxed and comfortable with Jamaica that they felt at ease walking the streets for food and shopping on their own. This is what I was most proud of. To introduce someone to Jamaica and make them feel that comfortable was a blessing. I believe this was the day that we stayed on the beach watching the local volley ball contest and cheering the man of our picking on to victory. The guys got a kick out of our cheering and by the middle of the game, Marilyn arrived.
Our last evening was spent at the River Pary where my age finally caught up with me around 2am. I simply could not go on any further. Again, B took over the party and stayed another hour while Marilyn and I chatted in the van.
