well ... Jitts ... that is the way of the world all around us ~ does NOT say that each of us buys into it ... "supports and participates" in it ~

That outdoor kitchen is only used once a year, Bob's BDay...and there's always a pot of porridge on the fire that day.....

Jitters...I often wonder the same thing....but there were other things going on that bothered me even more....I'll expound on that shortly....

Our guide that day was very cool....he knew that we hadn't gotten off a tour bus, and he realized that we understood the significance of the place....

He pulled me aside at the end of the tour and whispered to me that he was taking the tourists back to the gate, but that we were welcome to stay with Bob as long as we wished....so we did....just me and Pooh, sitting in the shade of the mausoleum....

I truly cherish my visits to Nine Mile...I usually leave there with a sense of tranquility that's hard to explain...however, I saw and heard some things that really disturbed me....I understand that change happens, but it's not always for the better....

First, a number of the guides were complaining that they weren't even being paid minimum wage ( although they probably make a week's salary with one day's worth of tips)...

Second, we were made to wear these hideous "Nine Mile Tour" wristbands, as if we were at Rasta Disney World [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/rolleyes.gif[/img]

Last, and most disturbing of all, there were armed police on the family's property...not just out in the road, but inside; in the gift shop, in the bar...fortunately, they were not at the mausoleum ( I don't think they dared)....and no matter who I asked, no one seemed to know what they were doing there; or maybe they knew, but just weren't saying....

What do you think Bob would say about the Babylon dem in his yard?!!

Laurel, you have to understand that I don't trust any police officer anywhere in the world....the cop is not your friend; the cop's job is to arrest you, put you in jail and then come up with a reason....

dave, i'm glad you get something spiritual out of being there . . . and this being an open forum to a degree [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/70456-eyebrows.gif[/img], i feel i can post reasonable "observations."

my point is all that commercialism that rides on "bob's" name . . . i'm by no means an expert on "bob" and "rastafari" . . . it seems to me that bob led a simple life and i don't recall seeing him with fancy jewellery and fancy clothing . . . as compared to the "hangers on" at the compound . . .

the first time i went to see the marley tomb, et al ... we drove and drove and drove .. i kept seeing signs that said "nine mile".
