I spoke to Mr. Dawkins just now. He says they don't have any PayPal account and since the Institute of Jamaica is a Government Body with no guidelines about online transactions, they could not proceed on that front.

He suggested however that we send the money to one account here then the person charged with handling the collection draws a cheque/Bank Draft payable to the Institute of Jamaica.

So as soon as SisD is ready and have the PayPal Account set up, provides the name for Western Union/Electronic Transfer and the Web Page for Donations then we can make our contributions.

Progess to date... waiting to hear back from
JNBS as to setting up an Bank Account which can be deposited to from anywhere, in any manner, and method to transfer funds regularly through the IOJ for the families particular needs.

Also waiting to hear back from Mr. Dawkins (IOJ) as to the costs of school enrollment, uniforms etc. so we can have a realistic view of our goals and requirements.

Once we as a community have chosen a suitable name for the Fund, and addressed all our concerns, I can provide a mailing address for those who wish to remit international money orders, which can then be deposited into the JNBS account on a regular basis.

I've started a new thread in Feedback, to continue the updates, as I get them.

**UPDATE** Due to Members' renewed interest in this project, and a presentation being arranged next month, Xavier has re-activated the PayPal payment link for last minute donations to the SITS fund.

Our contact in Jamaica has advised that 'Diane' Aston's mother, has started making leather products (slippers, belts, etc) A portion of the funds we've collected will enable Diane to purchase a machine needed to speed up her process (instead of doing everything by hand). The cost for this machine is $6000 J$ Our donations will accommodate this purchase as well as supplies for Diane to earn a better income.

All donations must be submitted no later than Feb 28th in order that the funds can be verified... and forwarded in sufficient time to be transferred to Diane and her family in March.

The journalist from the Gleaner whose gripping account of Aston's family situation will be on hand for the presentation from our local representative (((Q3210))) and will be doing a follow-up story regarding the family's progress to date.

If you would like to send words of encouragement to Diane or Aston and the other children, please forward them to the SITS email address listed in my signature. They will be compiled and included in the presentation.

For those of you who have already made a donation, and those of you who are about to add to the Fund and to this family's future, on behalf of Aston's family, we thank you.

Thanks SisD, with all the personal problems that you face, you still stuck with it and so far it looking like a winner.

I really hope this lady will be able to benefit from the re-start in life that this little doantion and others will give her.

I hope it is not too late for Aston and her other kids.

Thanks to Andrew and the people at the Institute of Jamaica Junior Center who looked out for Aston.

Thanks to all the other connections as well.
One person not mentioned is Blue In Green, it was really the back and forth argument between us that the idea of a charity to help Aston's Mom was born.

I will give some more myself and I hope others may be able to as well.
