I just glimpsed Dwight Drummond on City TV reporing something to the effect that the promoter for the Toronto Reggae Festival (Kool C)was killed on sunday, and insinuating that it may be linked to the how the show was organized, no-shows and all..
Anyone can confirm?
Thirty-three-year-old Farouk Sylvester Musah was an ambitious player in the local entertainment industry, where he was known as Kool “C”. But friends believe someone began entertaining thoughts of murdering the promoter after a failed reggae concert, and succeeded in meeting their vile objective on Sunday night. That’s when Musah’s bullet-ridden and lifeless body was discovered in his white Humvee at the Esplanade and Lower Sherbourne St.
An autopsy confirmed he succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds, but there’s nothing so far to confirm rumours that Kool “C” was snuffed out by someone upset about alleged unscrupulous business practices.
An associate who wished to remain anonymous spoke to CityPulse about the swirling suggestions that revenge was the motive.
“A lot of people leaving the venue (were making threats) and also things that we heard backstage about how he allegedly scammed people,” the associate said. “Some people are getting crazy out there and they take things to the next level and the smallest things sometimes now and bullets are going off.”
Kool "C" was one of the main promoters of the Toronto International Reggae Festival which took place at Lamport stadium last month. Hundreds of fans became angered when the headliner didn't perform and some were asking for their money back and threatening to get the promoter.
Detectives won’t reveal why they believe he was murdered, but they maintain drugs and gangs don’t appear to be a factor.
Musah leaves behind three children, ages 8-and-a-half, five and 16 months.
“He was a well liked, well respected promoter,” concluded the anonymous acquaintance. “I felt a lot of the other promoters felt he was a challenge out there.”
((kia)) it IS sad... when you really think about it, it really is such a small matter in someone's life to make them feel they need to exterminate someone for it... what do they do when something major doesn't go their way?
the only ppl who would duh supm like dat is a corrupt police force fe blame ee pan de black public (jamaican) or smaddy who had invested heavily with the promotor more than once and loss him shut and now him pants.
aftah a few times de saying goes "man fe ded"
but the corruption theory sounds bess tuh mi.
This police force has gone out of their way to divide the black community and anyone that would like to be down with it.
I doubt they are beyond murder--infact I bet if ya check the records the police are the #1 murderers in society.

You appear to be progressively deteriorating beyond recognition with the commnents you make at critical times. Is it meant to be just an attention grabber? ray:
If not,You oughta seek professional advice!
Said without malice and with much concern.
its sad really, another ambitious young black man with a young family, blown away, probably for no other reason than envy, and jealousy.
children ages 8,5 and 16 months...very sad indeed
yup, just as I thought. Dissapointing, but fact a life.
Although just contributing to the speculations.. The show was a rip off. First people had to wait inline for hours, then another wait for hours before the show started (4 hrs late), then there was this unholy line to buy food. It was a mess, and it was simply POOR organization. It is ineviatable that someone may just want some satisfaction. Further to that, the word on the street was that the promoter was not even Jamaican, but an African, and was up to swindling the people from day one.
Regardless, it doesnt help the situation, since the media is quick to highlight the negative aspect of the community, and flip the scrip on the positives.
Now I not so sure I should goto the Summer Splash on Sunday cause of the potential tension. May just ruin the vibes.
People need to get over this crap. How many events have I gone to where the show hasn't started on time? Numerous.
Caribana, what year can anyone remember that it started right on the 10 AM start time? So does that justify going out and killing the organizers of that event?
What about all the times we sit in the hair salon waiting hours to get our hair done? Do we go out and shoot the stylist or barber? Or even the mechanic who takes 3 days before he starts work on your car...
Bloody hell, when are people going to realize that there is value to life. For god's sake the children are now without their father. And over what?
I personally enjoyed the show as it was. Whether or not the headliner act came on. But I enjoyed the time with the people around me.

Sue? Tickets were probably non-refundabale and he would have been covered with various legal clauses regarding non-event, money back etc. [/qb]
If there is a pattern of this type of behavior I am sure there are grounds to sue somewhere. I was thinking of a collective effort as opposed to an individual effort.
As another poster said, it was probably due to poor organization. The best way to make sure he did not do it again was to spread the word not to support his promotions- it hits in the pocket not with his life. Now his children will grow up fatherless. The children always seem to pay the price for the actions of the adults
If you don't fight for what you deserve, you deserve what you get.
