THE GEORGE Bush administration is upset about Jamaica's decision to host Haiti's ex-President Jean-Bertrand Aristide, the Miami Herald has reported.

In addition, the newspaper quoted U.S. officials as saying that if Aristide's return to the Caribbean from the Central Africa Republic renews bloodshed in Haiti and U.S. troops are harmed, Congress would move that strong actions be taken against Jamaica.

The measures could include a reduction in the provision of non-humanitarian aid to Jamaica.

Contacted yesterday, Foreign Affairs Minister, K.D. Knight, said the Jamaican Government had not been informed of any such intentions of the United States Government and added that he would not "speculate" on the matter.

"There is a procedure," he said. "If the United States is taking certain forms of actions then there is a diplomatic channel that it would use, they have a resident ambassador living in Jamaica here, I cannot go by news reports."

The reports had also said the United States was angered by what it calls CARICOM's willingness to believe statements by the deposed president that he was forced to resign and kidnapped by U.S. forces.

An un-named U.S. official was reported to have said, CARICOM's actions over Haiti have damaged its relationship with the United States "a great deal".

Ousted Haitian President Aristide arrived in Jamaica last Monday with his wife Mildred as part of arrangements to meet with his daughters, who were sent to America during the bloody unrest in Haiti.

American Coup my ***, if anything, the U.S. saved him from getting killed. Yes, he was democratically elected. At the time, he was a Catholic Priest who was adored by the poor. Once in power, he made public speeches saying the way to change Haiti's situation is for the "haves" to share with the "have nots". "If you own 2 cars, you'll give one to your fellow man, if you own 2 homes, you'll give one to your fellow man, and so on". Now there are only 2 classes in Haiti - those who are doing extremely well, and the dirt poor (nothing in between, no working class). When the "haves" began to object to his new "share policy", he began executing people in public as an example of what would happen if you didn't cooperate. The method he chose was to take an old car tire, dose it with gasoline, and wedge it over your arms and body, then they would light it on fire and watch you burn to death. This was done out in the open on the streets of the capital. Once, a member of his cabinet approached him to ask what they should do about the large number of protestors gathering in front of the presidential palace. His response was "You know what I like? The smell of burning rubber!" His atrocities are well documented everywhere except here in the U.S., Washington as always, looked the other way in order to keep an ally in Port-au-Prince. His brutal ways were even noticed by the Vatican which "defrocked" him as a priest years ago.

Under Aristide, Haiti became the number one port of entry for all of the Columbian drug cartels. The corruption was so blatant, my relatives have witnessed the police closing down streets to allow small cargo planes to land, and help unload tons of cocaine into government trucks and haul it away. This was all done right in broad daylight. As a citizen, when you watch the police doing these things who are going to tell?

Keep in mind, this is the 2nd time there was a successful coup d'etat against him. The first time, the Clinton administration help put him back in power (which should never have happened). This time around, the U.S. simply got tired of his crap and the unrest his policies have caused. That's why they're not trying to re-instate him - they want him out of the region so they can try again with another Haitian puppet president/ally. Were this an actual American Coup, he's done enough were they could have built a public case to get him out of power, and they would have whisked him away just as they did with Noriega.

What irks me to no end is that most people don't give a flying crap what Amer a does until it affects them directly.

The number of people who lamely defended the US's foreign policies [or complete lack there-of of anything reasonable or valid] now rush to complain.

It wasn't right from the get-go...just as it isn't right now.

But...IF you're not willing to stand up for the rights of others...then it becomes ultimately reasonable to expect that YOU will be somewhere in the vicinity of next.

So, I say, stop the gay bashing, the Jew bashing, the Moslem bashing etc etc etc...

Because YOU...or...I...could be next.

like i said in the other thread where this same view was posted, none of the above justifies one country deciding another sovereign country's fate. let the haitian people deal with aristide, not george bush.

So do we take the focus off Aristide and his alleged atrocities because the US wants him out of JA/the region? Give me a break! If you look at it from the Haitian perspective, the man was a threat to his own people and his removal from office was within the best interest of all concerned. Perhaps if we lived in Haiti, we would see things a tad differently.

I thought I was alone in this. I see so many poeple come on and say [img]/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif[/img] oh it's sad, but wait till America tells you to go home then bomb your country and you are somewhere in the Atlantic waiting for a country to take you in but they are all afraid to take you in because they have bowed to the almighty.

Don't think it will happen? Too late. It already has.

They are going around threatening our country and someone said something the other day which was shameful but true. How many of you would sign a petition or write a letter if we started a letter writing campaign and urge yoru friends to do so to the government of Jamaica demanding a change.

I am sure there are over 1,000 persons here who have claimed to love Jamaica one way or another, and if each person agreed to and actually wrote a letter not sign a petition, I mean flood their offices with letters demanding that the country start making some changes and accomodating returning citizens and launch military type operations to combat crimes many of us would have a home.

It may not make a difference but it definitely woudl send a message through the media that immigrants who have built this country are fed up and ready to go home and build their own.

I am quite disgusted at the way in which we have allowed foreigners into our country and run our retail market, while as foreigners we are being kicked out of theirs.

first things first. I don't want PJ in power but my people elected him and not because US thinks that PJ is corrupt does it give them the right to come into MY country and kidnap him.

Moreover US isn't ina position to oust any leader not while the one in power is resposible for the murder of many black men without a fair trial in Texas.

Especially when he commanded his army to blow open the skulls of innocent children in Iraq just so he can get their oil.

Did you see him last night on tv mocking his WMD defense.

Didn't he stand by while Charles Taylor maimed and murder people in Liberia just last year. What did he do, he positioned his troops on the water. Where was the humanitarian service in that?

Wasn't he the same one who stole his way into the presidency without being elected.

I dont' care what Aristide did, I think PJ is looking at it from a point of view that this country cannot just come in and throw you out.
