hard question somehow when i think of Fab 5 , shaving creme comes to mind...muss have been the gentler Jamaica when everything was not out there as it is now...the play of 'that' word was a work of genuis and toooooooo funny...
as to ur performances....too many to cite...u have all neva done a bad performance and i admit prejudice but i have seen a lot of yaad bands backing a lot of artists and none come close to yall wid the authenticity of playing the individual artist's music...

Hi Nkosi,

Guess the answer to that is we simply do three things. 1) Keep our music up to date by making sure we understand the modern trends 2) Never lose track of our roots (so we don't tour too much and ignore Jamaica) 3) infuse new blood into the band from time to time, by adding members who are always younger than the founding members. Plus the overriding thing is we try to be as professional as possible. Always entertain our audience, always live up to our contractural obligations (turn up on time etc.) and always make sure we fit in to the event on which we are playing. So if the need is for dancehall we bust it. If the need is for oldies we play it, and if the need is for us to back another artiste we give 100% in rehearsal and performance.

I have to admit ((Frankie)) I've only seen your performance once... and the venue wasn't the greatest NOR the organizational bodies behind the event (remember Ottawa 2 years ago?) [img]/forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif[/img]

Although I did get some nice photos.... and the show was well worth it! [img]/forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]

I'd like to know... which is YOUR favourite place to perform? I know you appear a couple times a year in Toronto, like clockwork!

Regarding the Fab 5 thing, our lawyers are looking into it. It's really a downer, but true Fab 5 fans know that we cannot be confused with any group of gay jokers. Plus we play Jamaican music, what do they do? Thanks for the concern however. It can affect us, but thus far it really hasn't to any significant degree.

We'll see how it goes. As to our favourite place to perform. That would be hard to say. We have performed all over the world on some very different types of events. Central Park N.Y.was nice, but then we played in the Bahamas for a Corporate group that danced in the rain for ober two hours, that was fun. There are tons more stories like that. We have truly been blessed with great responses from our audiences and have had few bad experiences so we like most places. Plus the fans are always eager to see us. The Canda thing is special because we organize that ourselves every year.

if memory serves me right, u guys use to tour Germany back in the day, when Reggae wasn't even getting airplay on Ja radio stations , except in certain time slots...now the music is allll ova the place...how do u feel being part of that groundword that has brought it to where it is...

i saw the band play in the basement of mutual life building (if i remember correctly) in 1986 or 87. it was electric...a time in jamaica when it seemed when Kingston was alive with all kinds of different music. Fab5 had just come out with Police High Command rebuttal song...Gem Myers (thanks for the name!) had just come back from England and seemed happy to be home...nuff good vibes in the concert.
