I'm hearing that things are very bad (" worse than Ivan") in TB.
There is post on TB.net (not yet confirmed that there are 17 people (2 women and 15 men dead) on the Cay's.

Things are in flux Tuffstuff - you know how it is. Everything will be sporadic for a little while.

I have not been able to get through to Land line or cell (Digicell or C&W) so far.

I have told (2nd hand) that things are BAD ("worse than Ivan").
I have heard that Great Bay , South Field and back Flagaman were hard hit. Check out http://www.treasurebeach.net.

I wouldn't worry too much about Old Hope area, as Little Bay seems to be OK for the most part & they are right next to each other. It sounds as though Negril was mostly spared except for structural damage etc.

For all the people with relatives in back Flagaman, I just got a phonecall from a megaphone. There is a lot of damage. Many roofs are gone. I heard it is worse than Ivan.

Forgive me for being negative here....

Power 106 has switched from their awesome up to the minute updates over to Mutty Perkins, who I usually enjoy listening to.

But he is on some kick about the state of emergency being called when "things aren't too bad"...wonder if he has family he can't reach in St. Bess???

I am not in a position to call them, but if anyone else is could you please call and explain that there are a whole heap of people who would rather find out about the safety of their loved ones and worry about politics later!

I'm sending an email as well. I'm livid that we've a situation where all of us here are relying on these updates from Power 106 yet, again, our plight is being ignored by the media who, by and large, should have some form of responsibility in continuing to report on every section of the island, nevermind the foolish opinion of one person. So much for St. Bess being the so-called "breadbasket" of the country!
