<span style="color: #660000">Due to the woes in Jamaica today, I think there are some people who would believe that Jamaica made a mistake in leaving the Empire.
However, a study of Jamaican history, and that of Africa's, would suggest that Jamaica's core culture, and the pride it has, never evolved as a result of English rule.
I say core culture, because there are two societies in Jamaica, one that is slowly disintegrating, and caving in to pressures from so-called garrisons, and the other which has maintained reasonable stability, and requires minimal policing, or governmental support.
There were a lot of places in Jamaica in which English culture was only a marginal influence...
<span style="font-weight: bold"><span style="font-family: 'Book Antiqua'"><span style="font-size: 14pt">Nanny of the Maroons was the real heroine of Jamaica...one could say the true Mother of Jamaica,</span></span></span> she was the one who developed communities that were not needing British support, and were constantly under siege from the British Crown, and with which Britain wrote a major Peace Treaty, recognizing the territorial authority of the Maroons.
<span style="font-weight: bold">Anyway out of respect for her Majesty the Queen, I say big-up, and her reign has indeed been a long and distinguished one, from a diplomatic perspective.</span> </span>
