Wow! What a story! It certainly illustrates your point that concealed weapons can be a deterrent.

But there are some very negative aspects about owning a handgun. Everyone the gun owner comes into contact with, their chance of dying is increased...in this order, wife, children, family, neighbors, friends, strangers, criminal.

And Jamaica with one of the lowest suicide rankings in the world, would surely see a dramatic increase in suicides, and accidental shootings and deaths.

Other than that, it's a great idea! Arm everyone!

I think you got this all mixed up.
If that is the case then gunmen should be committing suicides, murdering spouses, kids, family and friends before strangers and lawabiding citizens. But am sure we both know that's not the case.

On the contray, armed citizens would do as any reasonable person would. Defend themselves, spouse, families and friends. Even strangers. The person most fearful would be the criminal. Unless you think the criminal is the more intelligent then.

I'm not sure why you believe that... are all citizens &quot;responsible?&quot; Should all citizens be armed?

(later) I found this interesting article in the washingtonpost.com. They have had a ban on handguns for a longtime. It was recently overturned by the Supreme Court.

I agree with you 100%, but they don't want the good old cowboy, indians days where guns were the talk of the town.

Now, with what is happening financially, there's going to be more robbery in all kind - on the roads, churches, as you are coming out of the supermarket with your goods, cars etc.

Look like some Pastors get the idea now, that they should help themselves too.
