this is twisting what i wrote... I am against the death penalty... I am against the extra judicial killing by police..

I am simply ackowleding that at every strata in jamaica there is widespread support for the death penalty... Even when it was stopped in the 80s it was unpopular...

are you sayinjg that the absense of the death penalty is popularly acclaimed ? two weeks ago when those children were raped and killed there was another call for its return.. least you say I am clamouring for it.. I think the deatyh penalty should not be brought back....

let me repeat if there was a referendum in Jamaica on this subject, I believe that there would be an overwhelming support. I would vote against it..

Please reconcile your professed belief in democracy with your unqualified support for capitalism.
Capitalism is an economic system in which the person or persons at the top of an economic entity have complete control with little or no input from the workers.

That is the antithesis, the opposite of democracy.

Please explain this contradiction ......or you can just ignore this question if you are unable to come up with something coherent.

That is just as good an idea as having a referendum on racism in the US and make it legal since it sseem to be the popular sentiment.

Very interesting comment in the interest of seeking a compromise. The problem is, The legal method under law seems to have been postponed indefinetely while the other, which is popularly known as extra-judicial &quot;murder&quot; (for &quot;killing&quot are executions without trial by judge and jury... For so long, the police have been given this power to kill all who are connected to &quot;crime&quot; that even petty criminals and robbers were/are being executed as if they were murderers that have taken lives...

The state has exacerbated this problem to the point that &quot;would be criminals&quot; are intent on being armed knowing that they are likely to be killed when the cops show up, which also puts the lives of policemen at risk... With this situation of shoot to kill or be killed now employed by criminals and cops, how do we put the &quot;genie back in the bottle&quot; It is my opnion that a &quot;merger&quot; of the legal postponed method cannot be merged with the current loathsome method which has now superseded it... One has to be re- activated and the other has to be slowly phased out... There may be other ways to &quot;merge&quot; let's have them...
