That is stock-in-trade all PNP all the time, well mostly the leadership, he is enamored with the leadership of the PNP.
I think he was recently named on some kind of science and technology board.

As for Herbert poor him he just wants to stay in the news as some kind of Industrial Relations expert, too bad he takes a decidedly anti-worker line.... well until the Government will have changed that is.

PM promises speech with major impact on the poor

Major developments in government will be announced by President of the People's National Party (PNP), Portia Simpson-Miller when she makes her inaugural presentation to the public session of the conference as President of the PNP.

Speaking to delegates Saturday night, Mrs. Simpson-Miller said the announcements will have a major impact on the poor.

And the PNP has established an elaborate campaign machinery to take to the streets immediately after its annual conference.

Campaign director, Dr. Paul Robertson, says a national campaign committee to be chaired by party President Portia Simpson-Miller has been launched.

In the meantime, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Mark Shields, is warning that the police will be going after persons involved in political violence.

Political analysts doubt possibility of early elections

Political historian Troy Caine says he is not convinced that Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller will be calling an early election.

According to Mr. Caine it would not be a surprise if the Prime Minister delays calling the general election in order to allow her party to rebound from the fallout over the Trafigura contribution.

“You have to remember now that we are going into the second week of October. So an election legally would hardly have been due before the ending of next month or the early part of December,” said Mr. Caine.

“So we are almost at the point this year where it is very tight relative to calling an election so a lot of people are looking beyond the ending of this year for the election, whether it is going to be in January, February before the World Cup or afterwards say after April, May remains to be seen,”

“It may now be a next year thing where they believe that doing a wait out period can try to heal the breach, the wounds and the bad PR that has been going on all week,” he added.

Meanwhile, political analyst, Shalman Scott is of the view that Mr. Campbell's resignation as well as Mrs. Simpson Miller’s decision to return the donation to Trafigura Beheer constitute desperate attempts at damage control.

But he argues that both have come too late.

“That opinion has been crystallized especially against the background of Trafigura’s insistence that the money that was sent and received by the PNP was for a commercial transaction and was not a donation,” said Mr. Scott.

“This has very very serious implications and at this stage whatever damage control is being exercised is being done after the horse has gone through the gate in terms of the crystallization of public opinion which has generated a lot of outrage and further disappointment in this Government,” he added.

Not a bad idea to hold elections over Christmas. LOL Maybe the whistleblower is just a sign of the tims and the J'can are (finally!) tired of corruption and poor leadership. We shall see.

I don't think Portia wants to test the waters anytime too soon. I would hope that the campaign funds to the PNP would dry up and this would force their hands.
The Privileged Sons and Daughters Of Jamaica say they will still support the parties.

I think the bell is JLP of the Democratic movement - not sure.
