I was really hoping Serenity would come back & reply. No disrespect to S82 at all at all. I just find some of her posts odd - for a variety of reasons.

Some things I've seen S82 post, I've never, in my whole long life, neva eva, heard ANY Jamaican say - so I was just wondering if she was Jamaican or if not Jamaica, had she ever lived there.

- I'm not saying you have to do XYZ to be a Jamaican or Mary is more Jamaican than Jane (sorry - Marvia more dan Janet) [img]/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img] ... but just reading some of her posts made me very curious.

- Yes, there are great things on the Rock but, we ALL KNOW, we need to be making massive more progress in so many areas yet instead, we're regressing. It's weird to me that a Jamaican, or someone who's lived (not visited, lived) in Jamaica for any length of time, would query why we Jamaicans are questioning the effectiveness of the govt & its leaders.

But hey - maybe I missed something. I'll go back some day when I have some time (lawd! a when dat de day aguuh come!) and re read some more of Serenitys posts.

No, but my parents are from there which brings about the interest.

In the US we have a certain respect for our leaders, but when Jamaican leadership is discussed is 99.9% negative remarks so I'm just asking whether the positives are discussed as well,which they certainly aren't being on this board.

It's a pattern I've noticed several times in terms of discussing current leadership there.

Can you explain to me the difference I notice, that most of the cartoons and discussion is negative?

For sure the leader of the US has it hard, lots to keep up with. However, governing Jamaica I'm sure is harder since it's a 'developing' economy and society.

There is a level of respect always shown for leaders here in the US, of course they must deserve it and of course we all know the leadership is made up of the entire government.

Is there a reason why 100% of the posts about any given current PM are always extremely negative?

*EVERY* post on this board has NOT been negative/critical about the govt and political leaders. I urge you, go back thru the forum and you'll see that.

(this is a pattern that I'VE noticed with many of YOUR posts. You might not be aware but you make very very broad sweeping generalized statements)

I imagine that the people here who are critical of the govt/pol leaders, HAVE lived under their governance or experienced it first hand, some how.

But you have not.

How then can you comment on whether people are being too critical about them or not? I'm certain this is not your intent but, I find this INcredibly insulting.

And - as I'm sure you know, the government, any goverment, works for the people. It's not the other way around. Just because the govt/its leaders, are being critcized, doesn't necessarily mean that people don't respect the government. It just means that they're calling a spade a spade!

Well I've noticed a pattern and most have been quite negative. I don't think all of the posters have even lived in Jamaica for quite some time.

No respect for the office comes through in many of the posts I've read so far. Hopefully, one of the other posters could explain why that is.

I know the difference between living there vs. visiting. I do have parents from there and love the country, culture and people. I have an interest and am merely wondering why most, if not all, of the posts are extremely negative and critical.

In fact, I don't believe most of the posters on this board of Jamaicans even lives there or has for quite some time.

If any are here, is there indeed a respect for leadership that just doesn't come through the postings throughout this board?

Are there good things the JA government is doing to make life better for the people despite having to struggle with a limited budget, corruption, a developing society and so on?

Example - I notice a 'pattern' in some of your posts where you frequently speak of your JA parents and loves of JA friends and so the love of the country. I think that's great - JA needs more love - all she can get. But why do you always play these cards - I dont see the import.
