Thats a very dangerous thing to do when the other person does not share the same sentiments, one just have to look at history i.e. columbus and the Mayflower crew to see where that got any group of people who held out themselves like that. The chi chi men have declared war on Jamaicans and their musicians so I have no tears for them. They cannot bring this foolishness to the bible belt in america or muslim countries or even isreal. But because Jamaica is precieved as weak we will be forced to submit or else. well I say declare your war of attrition and see who will win this one. As long as the people of Jamaica remain poor and have to struggle to make a living, poor people rights first before any chi chi man agenda.

The problem Amnesty International has in Jamaica and many other parts of the world is that, countries such as Jamaica are not holding any political prisoners. Prisoners Jamaica does have on Death Row are not facing imminent danger of their necks been broken. Whilst the conditions in the prison is horrendous, the total ideological control that GOJ has over the State Bureaucracy in Jamaica, makes it is virtually impossible to get true picture of what it is like inside.

What is known is that there is:
#1 State repression in Jamaica
#2 there is massive corruption
#3 there is abuse by the Security Forces acting independently and on behalf of the State.

Amnesty is not and has never been concerned by #2Whereas it is concerned by #1, there is no efficient way of getting usable information, simply because political victimization is very instutionalized, the Political Gangs are not been choreographed by the parties anymore, they are virtually Privateers, bearing only historical or anecdotal links to Parties.

So Amnesty is left with #3, part of which is the abuse against Gays and the lack of positive motivation by the police force to do anything about it.
Again Amnesty faces great difficulty in pursuing this avenue, because Jamaica is very homophobic and at the same time a very hypocritical society. Jamaicans could at one and the same time have a Prime Minister who was a f@g 4 times at a trot, but will not tolerate that inclination from, the poor, defenseless proletariat in the streets.

That is the very reason why I have said that Amnesty should leave the Gay Rights Organizations to champion the gay cause, but focus more closely on the refusal of the agents of the State from doing the proper investigations in all cases of abuse, whether gay on gay, straight on gay, State vs. Citizens.

But,if I am gay and living in jamdown and I know the prevailing attitude towards me I would be inclined to stay in the closet no...

Jamaica may criminalize the practice, but it can't stop people from having their associations behind closed doors in private spaces unless it has a 'morality police' whose job is to peep through key holes or hide under windows. Even if homosexuality was decriminalized, many Jamaicans would remain hostile to it - largely out of religious belief. Violence against homosexuals will continue as long as ordinary people refuse to condemn the violence out of fear that they are branded as homosexuals themselves. Violence is wrong regardless of whom it is perpetrated against. We should have the courage to condemn it in all its forms. I can say, well, that's not my thing, it doesn't appeal to me, but hey, that's your taste, and I won't consider you less of a human being because of that. Amnesty International is right in bringing attention to this incivility.

I dont know the pathological reasons but I relate the common factor between weak and lost animals vulnerable to certain humans that react violently to that of homosexuality confrontations where simular reactive behaviour is demonstrated.
It would be interesting to know if other people of different nationalities behave simularly when the same occasions arise. </div></div>

I really think that people who are intolerant towards people because of `surface` causes such as difference of skin colour and homophobia have demons within their very souls that are constantly at odds with one another, insecurely fighting at what to them is not normal. And most of those very demons were put there by what was unavoidably learnt and passed on by the same demons that drove fear into their foreparents.
Just like potty training, prejudices of variety were not born within, but were acquired firstly by the word/thought and secondly by application. </div></div>

I usually think share a commonn complaint of being sexually challenged more than likely with very small penises. And compensate for this inadequasy by violence towards those who they veiw as superior to them in a sexual manner...

Is this a statement of fact? Guys who are not substantially endowed in their mind express their inadequacies by meeting out violence on those who are seemingly out performing them, whether they are homo or hetero?

No wonder women are hardly ever seen to be acting out violently against others of same or differen t sexual persuasions.
They simply do not possess penises and do not have their sizes to worry about.

Lawd puppa jesas - all mi know say Jamaicans are not doing to change their behavior towards gays --- not now - maybe in the next 50 years or so. You kow, long, long ago Jamaicans were more tolerant of gays because they were not quite sure what being a "[censored]" meant..... not to mention women and women bizzness. I am looking back as a child my Mom told us not to go to her nephew Ivan's house because he was a "B-man" but we (my brother and sisters)loved him --- so we disobeyed her we always 'tief wey' and go see him - always nice to us children -- cooked nice pork dishes (and because we weren't allowed to eat pork at home it was "sweetier") and him always have sweetie for us (to see how children stay). We loved him he was my favorite cousin.

Buggery is still against the law in JAMAICA and even if the law is changed people beliefs will not readily change.
