These were touted to cure all manner of diseases and the peddler usually had a couple of people in the crowd gathered around his wagon who worked for him and who would buy and drink the snakeoil and then make all sorts of claims about how good they felt. The salesman then sold a lot of his fake cure and made his living this way. People would buy a bottle or two drink it get a buzz off the alcohol and feel pretty good but the next day whatever really ailed them still ailed them.

This then means that tourism in cuba is partially owned and partially run by Capitalist using capitalist principles.. With profits being sent back ot capitalist companies listed on the Madrid stock exchange in which I own shares. and to faciliate this a revision was made to the Cuban constitution ... the same goes for Agriculture, Energy and telecommunications... The only problem is that if any Cuban attempts to open a little something they are stymied by buracrasy, high taxation.. While letting forgienrs have tax concessions and repatriate their costs, and profits.. Tax breaks going to large investing corporations but not to mama and papa run bodegas.... Unless of course the large companies that are JV partners in Cuba do it out the goodnesso f their heart.. Odd that I have made profit out of compaies that operate in Cuba....and it is sanctioned by mi primo the beard...
A near mirror image of what is toted by Jamaica....And tax concession to large corporation so often touted as an evil.. They can own and operate resurants byut a local cannot.. Is that not unfaired trade ?????
