Re: 'She gave up her life for us' - Mother testifies against
Are you all crazy?
Adding more guns to an already violent society is a prescription for an increased slaughter.
As always Jamaicans are addressing a symptom of the problem that is poverty engendered by an economic system that clearly does not work in Jamaica and most of the impoverished Third World.
That poverty means that a large segment of the population will FOREVER be denied a proper education, a chance for a good job and any hope for hopeful future.
Of course that will breed crime, drug addiction, criminal gangs, corruption at all levels of the society.
No, the answer is not a fully armed populace. That is as crazy and unworkable a proposition as I have ever heard. It's like throwing gasoline on a fire to put it out.
The sad part is that Jamaicans will cling to the corrupt political system (democratic totalitarianism) and unworkable economic system (totalitarian capitalism) and then cry out against the violence and corruption that comes of that system which is based on greed, that ensures that a handful will live lives of luxury ( "building three storey mansions" to quote a rabid an of capitalism) while the young men of Jamaica by the hundreds of thousands are denied the possibility of a hopeful future.
Stop talking this "more guns" nonsense and start working on the answer to the real problems.
You cannot address the problem of gun violence without addressing the cause.
